  1. 1. Dissociation dynamics of highly excited molecules: Theory and Experiment

    Author : Shabnam Oghbaie; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : Molecular dissociation; core-electron excitation; double ionization; femtoseconds molecular dynamics; Isomerization; symmetry breaking; momentum imaging; site-selective dissociation; butadiene; cyclopropane; nuclear dynamics; Auger decay;

    Abstract : This thesis presents studies on dissociation of two model molecules: Butadiene and Cyclopropane. Tunable synchrotron radiation was used to ionize or excite the molecules in the gas phase, and the momentum correlation of the resulting fragment ions were measured using a 3D momenta coincident ion spectroscopy. 2. 2. Studies of Molecular and Cluster Fragmentation Using Synchrotron Radiation: Measurements and Models

    Author : Andreas Lindgren; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Atomic and molecular physics; photoionization; synchrotron radiation; localized excitation; electron-ion coincidence; induced alignment; clusters; molecules; core excitation; mass spectroscopy; fragmentation; dissociation;

    Abstract : A new spectrometer for studying photoinduced fragmentation has been designed and commissioned. The instrument produces a detailed view of the energy and angular emission of fragments, which in the case of small molecules can be related to their geometry at the moment of dissociation. 3. 3. Ultrafast Probing of CO Reactions on Metal Surfaces : Changes in the molecular orbitals during the catalysis process

    Author : Jörgen Gladh; Henrik Öström; Nils Mårtensson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hetrogenous catalysis; CO; transition metals; Ultrafast probing; oxidation; desorption; dissociation; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis presents experimental studies of three different chemical reaction steps relevant for heterogeneous catalysis: dissociation, desorption, and oxidation. CO on single-crystal metal surfaces was chosen as the model systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Molecular overlayers on homogeneous and heterogeneous metal surfaces studied by core-level photoemission

    Author : Maria Smedh; Fysiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photoelectron spectroscopy; core-level photoemission; electron energy loss spectroscopy; single crystal surfaces; metal surfaces; heterogeneous surfaces; adsorption; adsorbed molecules; hydrocarbons; molecular vibrations; carbon monoxide; adsorption sites; adsorption energy; diffusion; dissociation; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Smedh;

    Abstract : The main topic of this thesis is the investigation of small molecules adsorbed on metal surfaces by means of core-level photoemission spectroscopy. The thesis consists of three parts; The first group of papers concerns the effects of internal molecular vibrations on the core-level photoemission spectra. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development of molecular recognition by rational and combinatorial engineering

    Author : Andreas Jonsson; Stefan Ståhl; Mats Persson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Affibody molecule; albumin binding domain; protein engineering; phage display; amyloid beta peptide; TNF; HSA; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Combinatorial protein engineering, taking advantage of large libraries of protein variants and powerful selection technology, is a useful strategy for developing affinity proteins for applications in biotechnology and medicine. In this thesis, two small affinity proteins have been subjected to combinatorial protein engineering to improve or redirect the binding. READ MORE
