16. Structural, Electronic and Reactive Properties of Pentapyridyl - Base Metal Complexes : Relevance for Water Oxidation Catalysis
Abstract : The rationalization of chemical-physical proprieties of transition metal complexes is fundamental in order to understand and tune their reactivity. In this thesis, a systematic investigation of the geometrical and electronic properties of [M(Py5OH)Cl]+ complexes (M= Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) has been performed, and their ability to act as molecular water oxidation catalysts has been probed. 17. Magnetic fields around massive protostars as traced by masers and dust emission
Abstract : It is not fully clear how the magnetic field acts during the first stages of star formation. A possible way to clarify its role is to observe the polarized light coming from masers and thermal dust emission. READ MORE

18. ZnO Quantum Dots : Size Dependent Optical, Vibrational and Photoelectrochemical Properties
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to quantum dots of ZnO in the size regime 2.5-10 nm.The focus is directed towards their size dependent properties with specialemphasis on the optical, vibrational and photocatalytic properties. The particleswere synthesized by hydrolysis in alkaline zinc acetate solution. READ MORE

19. Polarization-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy of III-nitride quantum dots
Abstract : In this thesis, results from studies on (In)GaN quantum dots (QDs) are presented, including investigations of the structural, optical and electronic properties. The experimental studies were performed on GaN and InGaN QDs grown by molecular beam epitaxy, taking advantage of the Stranki-Krastanov growth mode for the GaN QD samples and the composition segregation for the InGaN QD samples.
