    Abstract : Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a heterogeneous malignancy displaying varying clinical outcome, where molecular markers today can divide patients into prognostic subgroups. Despite the introduction of new agents for treatment, remissions are usually not sustained in CLL and resistance towards treatment can partly be explained by aberrant apoptosis. READ MORE

    Abstract : The clinical course of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is highly heterogeneous, which has prompted the search for biomarkers that can predict prognosis in this disease. The IGHV gene mutation status and certain genomic aberrations have been identified as reliable prognostic markers of clinical outcome for this disorder. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studies of Autoantibodies in Systemic and Organ-Specific Autoimmune Disease

    Author : Filip Sköldberg; Olle Kämpe; Fredrik Rorsman; Lars Rönnblom; Eva Landgren; Marie Wahren-Herlenius; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; autoantibodies; autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type 1; cysteine sulfinic acid decarboxylase; histidine decarboxylase; systemic lupus erythematosus; ahnak; CLLD4; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Abstract : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is the prototypic systemic autoimmune disease, whereas autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type 1 (APS1) is a rare autosomal disorder characterized by combinations of organ-specific autoimmune manifestations including hypoparathyroidism and intestinal dysfunction, and may serve as a model for organ-specific autoimmunity. Autoantibodies directed against proteins expressed in the affected tissues are found in both diseases. READ MORE

  4. 4. Gene Expression and DNA Methylation in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

    Author : Jessica Nordlund; Syvänen Ann-Christine; Xavier Estivill; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Digital gene expression; Allele-specific gene expression; DNA methylation; Epigenetics; Acute lymphoblastic leukemia; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Abstract : Pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common malignancy in children, which results from the malignant transformation of progenitor cells in the bone marrow into leukemic cells. The precise mechanisms for this transformation are not well defined, however recent studies suggest that aberrant regulation of gene expression or DNA methylation may play an important role. Abstract : Adenovirus serotype 5 (Ad5) is widely used as an oncolytic agent for cancer therapy. However, its infectivity is highly dependent on the expression level of coxsackievirus-adenovirus receptor (CAR) on the surface of tumor cells. READ MORE
