  1. 11. The fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster GSTE6 and E7; characterization, immobilization and transgenic overexpression

    Author : Muhammad Aslam; Bengt Mannervik; Ralf Morgenstern; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glutathione transferases; drosophila melanogaster; isothiocyanates; toxicity; immobilization; kinetics; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : Glutathione transferases (GSTs) are multifunctional enzymes that are universally distributed in most eukaryotes and prokaryotes. They play a pivotal role in the metabolism and detoxication of numerous endogenous and exogenous electrophiles by conjugating them with ubiquitous tripeptide glutathione. READ MORE

  2. 12. Cell models for evaluation of adult and developmental neurotoxicity : Focus on acrylamide

    Author : Kristina Attoff; Anna Forsby; Åsa Fex-Svenningsen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : This thesis is aimed at summarizing some of the alternative in vitro methods and models that have been used to study both adult and developmental neurotoxicity (DNT), and also to pinpoint some of the important aspects of using alternative in vitro methods. The aim of the papers included in this thesis was to challenge the hypothesis that neurotoxicity and DNT of chemicals can be studied using robust endpoints for proliferation and neural differentiation, such as neurite outgrowth, mRNA expression and protein expression, in two different cell lines. 3. 13. In vitro developmental neurotoxicity of acrylamide

    Author : Kristina Attoff; Anna Forsby; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : The number of children with neurodevelopmental disorders is increasing worldwide which makes it a public concern. Exposure to environmental chemicals has been reported as a source of developmental neurotoxicity. READ MORE

  4. 14. The role of nuclear envelope proteins in chromatin organization, differentiation and disease

    Author : Cecilia Bergqvist; Einar Hallberg; Philippe Collas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear envelope proteins; chromatin organization; epigenetics; differentiation; quantitative image analysis; Samp1; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : In eukaryotes the genetic material is separated from the cytoplasm by the nuclear envelope (NE), consisting of the outer and inner nuclear membrane, the nuclear lamina and the nuclear pores. The genetic material is highly structured with transcriptionally inactive heterochromatin enriched at the nuclear periphery and transcriptionally active euchromatin in the nuclear interior. 5. 15. The role of nuclear membrane proteins in differentiation and chromatin organization

    Author : Cecilia Bergqvist; Einar Hallberg; Neus Visa; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nuclear membrane proteins; chromatin organization; epigenetics; differentiation; stem cells; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : The nuclear envelope, consisting of an outer and an inner nuclear membrane, surrounds the genomic material. The genomic material (chromatin) is highly structured with (transcriptionally inactive) heterochromatin mostly found in the nuclear periphery and (transcriptionally active) euchromatin mostly found in the nuclear interior.
