  1. 1. Targeted Therapy of Colorectal Cancer : Preclinical Evaluation of a Radiolabelled Antibody

    Author : Ylva Almqvist; Anders Sundin; Vladimir Tolmachev; Hans Lundqvist; Matthew K Robinson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Molecular medicine; tumour targeting; antibody; A33; radionuclide; colorectal cancer; therapy; Molekylärmedicin;

    Abstract : Targeted radiotherapy (TRT) of cancer is a promising approach that enables selective treatment of tumour cells, while sparing normal tissue. The humanized monoclonal antibody A33 (huA33) is a potential targeting agent for TRT of colorectal cancer, since its antigen is expressed in more than 95 % of all colorectal carcinomas. READ MORE

  2. 2. Autoantigens in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

    Author : Brita Ardesjö; Olov Ekwall; Olle Kämpe; Fredrik Rorsman; Eric Gershwin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Molecular medicine; inflammatory bowel disease; primary sclerosing cholangitis; autoimmunity; autoantigen; goblet cell; Molekylärmedicin;

    Abstract : Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) comprises diseases that are characterized by chronic or relapsing inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is an extraintestinal manifestation in IBD. READ MORE

  3. 3. Genetic Analyses using Rolling Circle or PCR Amplified Padlock Probes

    Author : Johan Banér; Sanjay Tyagi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Molecular medicine; Padlock probes; rolling circle amplification; PCR; genotyping; microarray; expression analysis; Molekylärmedicin; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; Medical Genetics; medicinsk genetik;

    Abstract : Padlock probes are useful in a variety of genetic applications, some of which require that the probes are amplified in order to generate detectable signals. Two general padlock amplification methods, RCA and PCR, are discussed in this thesis. READ MORE

  4. 4. The hematopoietic transcription factor RUNX1 : a structural view

    Author : Stefan Bäckström; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Molecular medicine; RUNX1; Runt domain; CBFβ; transcription factor; leukaemia; protein crystallography; anomalous diffraction; Molekylärmedicin; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : The malfunction of the transcriptional regulator RUNX1 is the major cause of several variants of acute human leukemias and its normal function is to regulate the development of the blood system in concert with other transcriptional co-regulators. RUNX1 belongs to a conserved family of heterodimeric transcription factors that share a conserved DNA binding domain, the Runt domain (RD), named after the first member of this group – Runt - found in Drosophila melanogaster. 5. 5. Analysis of Complex Genetic Traits in Population Cohorts using High-throughput Genotyping Technology

    Author : Andreas Dahlgren; Ann-Christine Syvänen; Håkan Melhus; Markus Perola; Struan Grant; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Molecular medicine; SNP; TCF7L2; HHEX; COL11A1; ESR1; body height; type 2 diabetes mellitus; proinsulin; ULSAM; complex genetic trait; genotyping technology; Molekylärmedicin;

    Abstract : Most human traits and common diseases have a complex genetic makeup involving more than one gene. The work presented in this thesis investigates standing body height and the common disease type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). READ MORE
