31. Solving the quantum scattering problem for systems of two and three charged particles
Abstract : A rigorous formalism for solving the Coulomb scattering problem is presented in this thesis. The approach is based on splitting the interaction potential into a finite-range part and a long-range tail part. In this representation the scattering problem can be reformulated to one which is suitable for applying exterior complex scaling. READ MORE

32. Visible spectroscopic diagnostics : application and development in fusion plasmas
Abstract : Diagnostic measurements play a vital role in experiments. Without them we would be in the dark with no way of knowing what was happening; of understanding the processes and behaviour occurring; or even of judging the success or failure of our experiments. The development of fusion plasma devices is no different. READ MORE

33. Resonant multi-photon ionisation studies of high-energy states in small molecules
Abstract : This thesis describes separate studies of high-energy Rydberg and ion-pair states in small molecules using resonant multi-photon ionisation spectroscopy. * OODR/REMPI study of ungerade Rydberg states in O2 The energy region between 75000 and 99900 cm-1 of O2 has been studied using optical-optical double resonance (OODR) with resonance enhanced multi-photon ionisation (REMPI). 34. Polypeptide-Based Nanoscale Materials
Abstract : Self-assembly has emerged as a promising technique for fabrication of novel hybrid materials and nanostructures. The work presented in this thesis has been focused on developing nanoscale materials based on synthetic de novo designed polypeptides. READ MORE

35. Imaging surface plasmon resonance
Abstract : The central theme of this thesis is the use of imaging Surface Plasmon Resonance (iSPR) as a tool in the characterization of surfaces with laterally varying properties. Within the scope of this work, an instrument for iSPR analysis was designed and built. READ MORE
