  1. 16. Adaptive blind deconvolution using third-order moments : exploiting asymmetry

    Author : Patrik Pääjärvi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the use of third-order statistics in adaptive blind deconvolution of asymmetric impulsive signals. Traditional methods are typically based on fourthorder moments, which can discriminate signals with heavy-tailed probability functions (i.e. `spiky' signals) from corresponding filtered versions. 4. 19. Consumption and Practice : Unfolding Consumptive Moments and the Entanglement with Productive Aspects

    Author : Benjamin Hartmann; Jacob Östberg; Dannie Kjeldgaard; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates consumption through a practice-theoretical perspective. Practices are routinized sets of human activity involving doings, meanings, and objects. Previous work has suggested conceiving of consumption as moments in practices. READ MORE

  5. 20. CFD Predictions Including Verification and Validation of Hydrodynamic Forces and Moments on Ships in Restricted Waters

    Author : Lu Zou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; RANS; deep water; shallow water; ship-to-ship interaction; bank effects; tanker hulls; canal; verification and validation; drift motion; hydrodynamic forces and moments;

    Abstract : The evaluation of ship manoeuvrability is of significance at the initial design stage, as inappropriate manoeuvring performance may result in unstable ship motion, difficulties in steering and even marine accidents. Restricted waters, with the presence of solid boundaries of the flow field, such as a shallow seabed below the hull, a side bank in the vicinity of the hull or another hull nearby, complicate the flow field and introduce an influence on hydrodynamic forces and moments acting on the hull.
