  1. 6. Monoclonal antibodies against carcinoembryonic antigen and their use in tumor diagnosis

    Author : Anders Hedin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : A new CEA-related substance, (CEAlow) was isolated from liver metastases of colorectal cancer. Purified CEAlow was homogeneous by several physico-chemical criteria. It had an apparent molecular weight of 125,000. 2/9 monkey anti-CEA sera gave a spur with CEA over CEAlow in immunodiffusion. READ MORE

  2. 7. Immunological analysis of the human tumor cell surface : characterization of polypeptides associated with urinary bladder carcinoma

    Author : Staffan Paulie; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Tumors express antigens characteristic of their malignant phenotype, a fact that has become exploited for the diagnosis of certain types of cancer. As these tumor-associated antigens (TAA) may also provide Information on the molecular mechanisms of tumorogenesls as well as constituting the basis for immunotherapeutlc approaches, much Interest has been focused on the Identification and characterization of TAAs. 3. 8. Molecular Portraits of Cancer : Discovery of Biomarker Signatures using Affinity Proteomics

    Author : Petter Skoog; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Breast Cancer; Pancreatic cancer; antibody microarray; Immunosignature; Global Proteome Survey; Affinity proteomics; Biomarker;

    Abstract : The use of antibodies as capture molecules in assays is a common practice. By either printing monoclonal single chain fragment variables (scFvs) on a solid support – recombinant antibody microarray – or attaching them to magnetic beads – Global Proteome Survey (GPS) – we can specifically capture and measure target proteins of interest. 4. 9. Parasite antigens and cellular interactions associated with the membrane of Plasmidium falciparum infected erythrocytes

    Author : Wipaporn Ruangjirachuporn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The asexual erythrocytic stages of malaria parasites are the cause of the pathological manifestations of the disease, Plasmodium falciparum being the species notorious for causing serious complications. This thesis describes studies on parasite-host cell interactions at two different stages of the P. READ MORE

  5. 10. Parasite specific immune responses in humans exposed to Plasmodium falciparum malaria

    Author : Katarina Sjöberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Malaria is one of the most serious diseases worldwide with regard to mortality and morbidity and the most severe form in humans is caused by Plasmodium falciparum. The development of a vaccine against this disease is an important goal in malaria research and extensive efforts are made to identify antigens suitable for inclusion in such vaccines. READ MORE
