  1. 1. Modelling the Variability of Bending Strength in Structural Timber - Length and Load Configuration Effects

    Author : Tord Isaksson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; code; reliability-based design; Weibull; test standard; load configuration effect; length effect; weak section; machine grading; visual grading; variability; Structural timber; bending strength; simulation; monte carlo simulation.; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : The load carrying capacity of a beam of structural timber is dependent both on the span of the beam and the type of loading. The longer the beam and the more uniform the moment distribution, the lower the load carrying capacity. This phenomenon is due to the variability of material properties within a piece of timber. 2. 2. Probabilistic System Effects in Timber Structures

    Author : Martin Hansson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggnadsteknik; Building construction; Anläggningsteknik; Construction technology; first order reliability method; Monte Carlo simulation; system effect; sheathed parallel member system; structural timber; roof truss;

    Abstract : The main purpose of the performed research presented in this thesis is to increase the understanding of the effect of variability of strength properties on the reliability of timber structural systems. Compared to other structural materials such as steel and concrete, structural timber has a considerably higher variability of strength both within and between members. READ MORE

  4. 4. From Monte Carlo PET Simulations to Reconstructed Images : Modelling and Optimisation for 68Ga Theragnostics

    Author : Philip Kalaitzidis; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Anthropomorphic phantoms; Monte Carlo modelling; Nuclear medicine; PET; SPECT; Theragnostics; Tomographic reconstruction; Fysicumarkivet A:2023 Kalaitzidis;

    Abstract : In nuclear medicine, radiopharmaceuticals can be administered for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in theragnostics, a strategy that combines both diagnosis and therapy. READ MORE

  5. 5. On inference in partially observed Markov models using sequential Monte Carlo methods

    Author : Jonas Ströjby; Matematisk statistik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns estimation in partially observed continuous and discrete time Markov models and focus on both inference about the conditional distribution of the unobserved process as well as parameter inference for the dynamics of the unobserved process. Paper A concerns calibration of advanced stock price models, in particular the Bates and NIG-CIR models, using options data observed through bid-ask spreads. READ MORE
