  1. 11. On the Structure and Dynamics of Polyelectrolyte Gel Systems and Gel-surfactant Complexes

    Author : Per Johan Råsmark; Christer Elvingson; Johan Bergenholtz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; polyelectrolyte gel; microgel; dynamic light scattering; Raman spectroscopy; periodic boundary conditions; percolation; hypersphere; Monte Carlo; Brownian dynamics; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the results of experimental work on polyelectrolyte gels and their interaction with oppositely charged surfactants, and presents two new algorithms applicable to the simulation of colloid and polymer systems.The model systems investigated were crosslinked poly(acrylate) (PA) and poly(styrene sulphonate) (PSS), and the surfactant was dodecyl trimethylammonium bromide (DoTAB). 2. 12. Fabrication, characterization, and modeling of metallic source/drain MOSFETs

    Author : Valur Gudmundsson; Per-Erik Hellström; Yee-Chia Yeo; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Metallic source drain; contact resistivity; Monte Carlo; NiSi; PtSi; SOI; UTB; tri-gate; FinFET; multiple-gate; nanowire; MOSFET; CMOS; Schottky barrier; silicide; SALICIDE;

    Abstract : As scaling of CMOS technology continues, the control of parasitic source/drain (S/D) resistance (RSD) is becoming increasingly challenging. In order to control RSD, metallic source/drain MOSFETs have attracted significant attention, due to their low resistivity, abrupt junction and low temperature processing (≤700 °C). READ MORE

  3. 13. Developments for the FPGA-Based Digitiser in the PANDA Electromagnetic Calorimeters

    Author : Markus Preston; Per-Erik Tegnér; Samuel Silverstein; Pawel Marciniewski; Allan Hallgren; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PANDA; calorimeter; FPGA; single event upset; Geant4; Monte Carlo; pile-up; feature extraction; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The strong interaction between quarks and gluons is one of the fundamental interactions described by the standard model of particle physics. Systems of quarks bound together by the strong interaction are known as hadrons, of which the proton and the neutron are the most common examples. READ MORE

  4. 14. Process Models for CO2 Migration and Leakage : Gas Transport, Pore-Scale Displacement and Effects of Impurities

    Author : Farzad Basirat; Auli Niemi; Karsten Jensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geological Carbon Storage; CO2 leakage; Field experiment; Laboratory experiment design; Multi-phase flow; Heterogeneity; Wettability; Pore-scale modeling; Impurity gases; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Abstract : Geological Carbon Storage (GCS) is considered as one of the key techniques to reduce the rate of atmospheric emissions of CO2 and thereby to contribute to controlling the global warming. A successful application of a GCS project requires the capability of the formation to trap CO2 for a long term. READ MORE

  5. 15. Single-Photon Events in the DELPHI Experiment

    Author : Elisabeth Falk; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kvantfältteori; Elementarpartikelfysik; quantum field theory; DELPHI; STIC; LEP; single-photon events; PS; off-energy electrons; silicon-strip detector; coherent noise; emittance; Elementary particle physics; fast wire scanner; High energy interactions; cosmic rays; Kosmisk strålning; högenergi; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Falk Harris;

    Abstract : A series of studies pertaining to the STIC calorimeter at the DELPHI experiment at LEP is presented, and a new generation of fast wire scanners for emittance measurements at PS is described. The STIC studies are centered around a single-photon analysis, in which the reaction e+ e- -> gamma + invisible particles was studied at center-of-mass energies of 161, 172 and 183 GeV. READ MORE
