  1. 21. Simulation-based Optimization and Decision Making with Imperfect Information

    Author : Farzad Kamrani; Rassul Ayani; Stephen John Turner; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Simulation-based Optimization; UAV Path Planning; Business Process Optimization;

    Abstract : The purpose of this work is to provide simulation-based support for making optimal (or near-optimal) decisions in situations where decision makers are faced with imperfect information. We develop several novel techniques and algorithms for simulation-based optimization and decision support and apply them to two categories of problems: (i) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) path planning in search operations, and; (ii) optimization of business process models. 2. 22. Spectrally Selective Solar Absorbing Coatings Prepared by dc Magnetron Sputtering

    Author : Shuxi Zhao; Ewa Wäckelgård; Carl-Gustaf Ribbing; Volker Wittwer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Materials science; spectrally selective surface; solar energy; magnetron sputtering; thin film; Materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Spectrally selective solar absorber using composite Ni-NiO as coating materials was studied. Samples were prepared by dc magnetron sputtering unit named Rulle, which is a miniature copy of an industrial roll-coater unit. READ MORE

  3. 23. Programming and updaing of reaching movements

    Author : Sergei Perfiliev; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Reaching movements; motor cortex; central command; neuronal recording; trajectory updating; descending pathways; spinal cord lesions;

    Abstract : Neuronal activity in the motor cortex (area 4) was recorded during reaching movements in cats, trained to perform target-reaching in response to a tone burst. Out of 350 task related neurones 12% generated short latency (20?110 ms) sensory responses to the cue triggering the reaching movement. READ MORE

  4. 24. Development of improved radiation therapy techniques using narrow scanned photon beams

    Author : Björn Andreassen; Anders Brahme; Håkan Danared; Roger Svensson; Antony Lomax; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : IMRT; Scanned photon beams; PET-CT treatment verification; Monte Carlo; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Abstract : The present thesis is focused on the development and application of narrow scanned high energy photon beam for radiation therapy. The introduction of physically and biologically optimized intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) requires a flexible and accurate dose delivery method to maximize the treatment outcome. 5. 25. Connecting Social Science and Information Technology : Democratic Privacy in the Information Age

    Author : Mikael Sundström; Statsvetenskapliga institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; systems theory; Political and administrative sciences; IT Information Technology Democracy Privacy; Informatics; Social sciences; systemteori; Informatik; Statsvetenskap; förvaltningskunskap; Samhällsvetenskaper;

    Abstract : This work has two main ambitions. First, we will develop a generic framework which, properly used, can drastically reduce the intrinsic complexity of the continually evolving IT-environment, making it less unwieldy. That should prove advantageous for anyone trying to analyse social aspects of the moving target that is classified as "IT". READ MORE
