  1. 1. Idiopathic environmental intolerance attributed to electromagnetic fields : physiological and psychological aspects

    Author : Amanda Johansson; Lena Hillert; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : electrical hypersensitivity; EHS; mobile phone; MP; heart rate variability; HRV; provocation study; radiofrequency field; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to increase the knowledge on people with symptoms attributed to electromagnetic fields (EMF) by investigating the effects of EMF exposure and by additional description of the heterogeneous group of people reporting EMF-related symptoms. The effect of mobile phone (MP)-like radio frequency (RF) fields on symptoms, autonomic nervous system (ANS) parameters, short-term memory, and reaction time in persons with MP-related symptoms (MP participants) was investigated in a provocation study. 2. 2. Miniprojects and Context Rich Problems : Case studies with qualitative analysis of motivation, learner ownership and competence in small group work in physics

    Author : Margareta Enghag; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Social sciences; context rich problems; CRP; mini projects; MP; physics in upper secondary school; Students’ ownership of learning; SOL; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis reports case studies of students working with context rich problems (CRP) and mini projects (MP) in physics in an upper secondary school class and in a physics teacher education class at university. The students report a big shift from physics in secondary school as fun and easy, to physics in upper secondary school as boring, difficult and with lack of time for reflections and physics talking, but they also found physics as interesting in itself. 3. 3. Utilization of waste materials for extraction of strategic metals : a biogeochemical approach

    Author : Viktor Sjöberg; Stefan Karlsson; Bert Allard; Mattias Bäckström; Christian Ekberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biogeochemistry; ICP-QMS; MP AES; strategic metals; vanadium; uranium; mine waste; steel slag; shale residues; Enviromental Science; Miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Worldwide the modern society produces vast amounts of waste materials containing strategic and valuable metals. Some of them are of substantial economic or environmental significance if controlled recovery of metals can be performed or if uncontrolled release to the environment occurs. READ MORE

  5. 5. Micro-by-micro interactions : Aggregation dynamics, biofilms, and ecotoxicological impacts of suspended solids

    Author : Sophia Reichelt; Elena Gorokhova; Rehab El Shehawy; Julien Gigault; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; suspended solids; microplastics; bacteria; biofilm; aggregation; ecotoxicology; microalgae; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Increasing concerns arise regarding the environmental risk of microplastics (MP) and their interactions with biota, prompting numerous effect studies. However, current ecotoxicology methods fall short when it comes to assessing MP impacts. READ MORE
