1. Mucins in normal and diseased airways
Abstract : Mucus glycoproteins (mucins) are the principal constituents of respiratory secretions in health and disease. The increased 'acidity' of mucin producing cells in the bronchitic airways is not reflected in a change of negative charge of bronchitic mucins. READ MORE

2. Assembly and proteolytic cleavages of gel-forming mucins
Abstract : Gel-forming mucins are large glycoproteins constituting the main structural component of themucus layer protecting epithelial surfaces of the body. This thesis aims to a deeper understandingof how gel-forming mucins are synthesized and assembled, and how they may interact with othermolecules. READ MORE

3. Analytical approaches to the study of mucin glycosylation
Abstract : Mucins constitute the major protein component of the mucus layer, which covers the epithelial surfaces of the respiratory, the gastrointestinal and the genitourinary tracts. Mucins carry O-linked oligosaccharides which contribute to the molecule by 50-80 weight percent, and these can be highly diverse, with 50-150 different oligosaccharides found on a purified mucin population. 4. O-glycosylation of intestinal and respiratory mucins in health and disease
Abstract : Mucins are large glycoproteins with a diverse O-glycosylation constituting up to 80% of the total mucin mass. The mucus layer covering the epithelial cells of the gastrointestinal and respiratory tract is largely made up of gel-forming mucins. READ MORE

5. Mucin-like proteins in Drosophila development
Abstract : Mucins are large and highly glycosylated proteins and major component of the mucus that coats the lining of epithelial organs. Mucins are characterized by the presence of extended regions rich in the amino acids Proline, Threonine and Serine (PTS domain), where the Serines and Threonines are O-glycosylated to form sugar-rich mucin domains.
