  1. 1. Development of the CHICSi multi detector system and experiments with its auxiliary systems

    Author : Elbert Jan van Veldhuizen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiation sciences; Strålningsvetenskap; Radiation biology; Strålningsbiologi; kärnfysik; Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : Two new detector systems are described, including several new detector concepts. They areintended for use in heavy ion reaction experiments at the CELSIUS storage ring of the TheSvedberg Laboratory in Uppsala. In addition, results of experiments are presented, togetherwith theoretical calculations. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of Detector Systems for Internal and Fixed Target Heavy Ion Physics Experiments

    Author : Pavel Golubev; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Multi-detector system; VLSI electronics; ultra-thin detectors; heavy ion reactions; nuclear intensity interferometry; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; ultra-high vacuum compatibility; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Golubev;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with intermediate energy heavy ion reactions with the particular aim to study the nuclear matter equation of state which defines the relation between statistical parameters of a fermionic system. The development of equipment for two experiments, CA47 at The Svedberg Laboratory in Uppsala, Sweden and R16 at Kernfysisch Versneller Instituut (KVI), Groningen, The Netherlands, are described. 3. 3. Studies of collective phenomena in neutron deficient nuclei : by means of lifetime measurements, angular correlation measurements and the recoil-decay tagging technique

    Author : Karin Andgren; Bo Cederwall; Paul Nolan; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heavy-ion reactions; multi-detector arrays; recoil separator; in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy; high spin states; lifetime measurements; recoil-decay tagging; nuclear shape; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The nucleus is a mesoscopic system that retains features from both the quantum and macroscopic worlds. A basic property of a macroscopic body is its shape. Nuclear shapes can be deduced from experimental data as they influence the excitation mode of the nucleus and hence the energies and lifetimes of its excited levels. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development of a Data Aquisition System at a Nuclear Microprobe with Applications in the Geo- and Biosciences

    Author : Mikael Elfman; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; system; numerisk analys; Datalogi; control; systems; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; numerical analysis; Computer science; kontroll; Zoology; Zoologi; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Elfman;

    Abstract : This thesis is divided in two parts, one that deals with the development of the new data acquisition system at Lund Nuclear Microprobe, and a second part that deals with different applications. A CAMAC based data acquisition system has been installed at the Lund Nuclear Microprobe facility. READ MORE
