6. Experimental studies of spinal mechanisms associated with muscle fatigue
Abstract : Muscle fatigue is ubiquitous in every day life.Muscle fatigue might be considered as an altered state of motor behaviour, which impairs motor performance. By contrast, muscle fatigue could also be considered a positive phenomenon, which protects muscle tissue from damage that might be incurred to it by overuse. READ MORE

7. On spinal mechanisms for reflex control in man : modulation of Ia-afferent excitation with changes in muscle length, activation level and fatigue
Abstract : To control muscle force, neural activation has to take alterations in muscle mechanics into account. This thesis assesses modulations in excitatory efficacy of Ia-afferents during muscle length changes at different levels of voluntary activation and during fatigue. READ MORE

8. Evaluation of physical work capacity and leg muscle fatigue during exhaustive stair ascending evacuation
Abstract : AbstractPhysical exhaustion can constrain human ascending work capacity and performance during emergency evacuation on stairs. The overall aim of this research was to explore and compare stair ascending capacities and physiological limitations during two different strategies: self-preferred pace in three different public stairways in the field, and controlled pace in a laboratory on a stair machine. 9. Experimental tooth clenching : a model for studying mechanisms of muscle pain
Abstract : “I felt like I’d done three rounds with Mike Tyson…all becauseI was grinding my teeth in my sleep”, så beskrev en patient somintervjuades av Daily Mail i en artikel där det ökade problemet medöverbelastning i käkarna beskrevs, vilket kan leda till tandslitage, muskelsmärta, och frakturer på tandmaterial. Det personliga lidandet, och de ekonomiska kostnaderna för både individ och samhälle ärstort. READ MORE

10. Effects of repetitive work on proprioception and of stretching on sensory mechanisms : implications for work-related neuromuscular disorders
Abstract : The aims of the thesis were (i) to investigate the impact of repetitive low-intensity work exposure on proprioception and (ii) to examine effects of muscle stretching (especially sensory effects and effects on muscle nociception) and to relate its application to the prevention, alleviation and/or treatment of work-related neuromuscular disorders. The effects of low-intensity repetitive work on the shoulder proprioception were tested in healthy subjects. READ MORE
