6. Biomechanical and neural aspects of eccentric and concentric muscle performance in stroke subjects : Implications for resistance training
Abstract : Muscle weakness is one of the major causes of post-stroke disability. Stroke rehabilitation programs now often incorporate the same type of resistance training that is used for healthy subjects; however, the training effects induced from these training strategies are often limited for stroke patients. 7. Altered movement patterns and deviating muscular activity in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury
Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of altered movement patterns in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in order to improve ACL rehabilitation, and to develop an observational instrument termed Test for Substitution Patterns (TSP) for standardized, quantifiable scoring of altered movement patterns in legs and trunk. In all, 142 participants, 93 with ACL-rupture (37 women) and 49 uninjured participants were investigated. READ MORE

8. Physical Exercise in Cystic Fibrosis -studies on muscle strength, oxygen uptake and lung function in young adult patients
Abstract : Muscular strength, lung function and exercise capacity are internationally reported to be markedly impaired in adult patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). Since 20 years physical exercise is one important part in the treatment of patients with CF in Sweden. Handgrip strength is reported to relate to nutrition and activity of daily living. READ MORE

9. Kinetic chain weight training, strength assessment, and functional performance testing: with reference to sports and rehabilitation
Abstract : The overall purpose of the studies was to obtain knowledge about physical performance in healthy individuals and patients after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Data are presented that concerns closed and open kinetic chain exercise, adaptive response to weight training, the methodology of muscle strength assessment, and the development of a functional testing protocol performed under conditions of fatigue. 10. Strength training for physical performance and injury prevention in sports. Individualised and supervised training for female athletes
Abstract : The overall purpose of this thesis was to obtain knowledge about individualised, supervised strength and conditioning programmes for physical performance and injury prevention in female athletes. Data are presented both on the influence of individualisation and supervision during resistance training for physical performance and injury prevention and on the athletes’ experience of resistance training and the role of the physical coach.
