  1. 1. Methodological aspects of quantitative cardiac molecular imaging

    Author : Tanja Kero; Mark Lubberink; Håkan Ahlström; Elin Trägårdh; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : PET; cardiac amyloidosis; 11C-PIB; retention index; standardized uptake value; PET-MR; MRI; myocardial blood flow; 15O-water; quantification; quantitative modeling;

    Abstract : The objective of this research was to facilitate the use of quantitative cardiac molecular imaging by developing and validating methods and applications. More specifically:we determined the optimal tracer kinetic model for analysis of 11C-PIB and evaluated the performance of two simpler measures, retention index (RI) and standardized uptake value (SUV), in the quantification of cardiac 11C-PIB uptake in amyloidosis. 2. 2. Doppler tissue imaging in ST-elevation myocardial infarction

    Author : Nils Witt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Highly available, noninvasive and cost-effective, echocardiography remains a keystone in the evaluation of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Echocardiographic assessment of cardiac function at rest and during dobutamine stress has direct clinical implications. READ MORE

  3. 3. Advanced electrocardiography in myocardial electrical remodeling : insights from cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging

    Author : Maren Maanja; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a common diagnostic tool in cardiology thanks to its high accessibility and low cost. However, in several cardiovascular diagnoses, including left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), current conventional ECG measures and criteria have a poor diagnostic performance. READ MORE

  4. 4. Bleeding complications following acute myocardial infarction : time trends, risk assessment and associated prognosis

    Author : Moa Simonsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: In patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI), bleeding complications are common and associated with worse prognosis. This thesis aimed to investigate the epidemiology, risk assessment and associated outcomes of bleeding complications in patients with acute MI. READ MORE

  5. 5. Left ventricular function's relation to load, experimental studies in a porcine model

    Author : Roman A'roch; Michael Haney; Jan Poelaert; Lars-Åke Brodin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; heart function; preload; afterload; contractility; myocardial tissue velocity; speckle tracking; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Cardiology; kardiologi;

    Abstract : Background: Loading conditions are recognized to influence ventricular function according to the Starling relationship for length/stretch and force.  Many modern echocardiographic parameters which have been announced as describing ventricular function and contractile status, may be confounded by uncontrolled and unmeasured load.
