1. Molecular detection of abundance and activity of marine, symbiotic, N2-fixing cyanobacteria
Abstract : Marine primary productivity in large parts of the oceans is supported by nitrogen fixers (diazotrophs). Richelia, a genus of multiple closely related species of heterocystous filamentous cyanobacterial diazotrophs, are often found in symbioses with a few genera of diatoms. Several Richelia species: R. euintracellularis, R. READ MORE

2. Significance of N2 fixing planktonic symbioses for open ocean ecosystems
Abstract : Di-nitrogen (N2) fixers, also called diazotrophs, are able to reduce atmospheric N2 into bioavailable nitrogen, giving them an advantage in open ocean regions with low dissolved inorganic nitrogen concentrations. The focus of this thesis are three lineages of symbiotic heterocystous filamentous types (het-1, het-2 and het-3), that associate with several genera of microalgae called diatoms (collectively referred to as Diatom Diazotroph Associations, DDAs). 3. Relationally focused specialized foster care : Relational experiences and changes in mental health and adaptive functioning
Abstract : Background: Foster care is a relatively common arrangement when parents are unable to meet the needs of their children. Specialized foster care is sometimes applied in cases when problems are more serious and complex. More knowledge is needed about the effects of such specialized foster care. READ MORE

4. The role of N-cadherin and S1P/S1P1 in pancreas development
Abstract : Organogenesis of epithelial organs requires interaction between epithelial and mesenchymal tissues. During pancreas development, mesenchyme-derived structures induce specification, growth and differentiation of pancreatic epithelial cells. READ MORE

5. Enhance your workplace! : a dialogue tool for workplace health promotion with salutogenic approach
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to develop and make a quality assessment of a tool, which includes a questionnaire and a dialogue process that could be useful for workplace health promotion from a salutogenic point of view. The studies have been performed within two health care organizations between 2005 and 2009, together with hospital staff. READ MORE
