1. Sparse Modeling Heuristics for Parameter Estimation - Applications in Statistical Signal Processing
Abstract : This thesis examines sparse statistical modeling on a range of applications in audio modeling, audio localizations, DNA sequencing, and spectroscopy. In the examined cases, the resulting estimation problems are computationally cumbersome, both as one often suffers from a lack of model order knowledge for this form of problems, but also due to the high dimensionality of the parameter spaces, which typically also yield optimization problems with numerous local minima. 2. Multidimensional Markov-Functional and Stochastic Volatiliy Interest Rate Modelling
Abstract : This thesis consists of three papers in the area of interest rate derivatives modelling. The pricing and hedging of (exotic) interest rate derivatives is one of the most demanding and complex problems in option pricing theory and is of great practical importance in the market. READ MORE

3. Conformal Einstein spaces and Bach tensor generalization in n dimensions
Abstract : In this thesis we investigate necessary and su±cient conditions for an n-dimensional space, n ≥ 4, to be locally conformal to an Einstein space. After reviewing the classical results derived in tensors we consider the four-dimensional spinor result of Kozameh, Newman and Tod. READ MORE

4. Digital Geometry and Khalimsky Spaces
Abstract : Digital geometry is the geometry of digital images. Compared to Euclid’s geometry, which has been studied for more than two thousand years, this field is very young.Efim Khalimsky’s topology on the integers, invented in the 1970s, is a digital counterpart of the Euclidean topology on the real line. 5. Norm inequalities of Hardy and Pólya-Knopp types
Abstract : This PhD thesis consists of an introduction and six papers. All these papers are devoted to Lebesgue norm inequalities with Hardy type integral operators. Three of these papers also deal with so-called Pólya-Knopp type inequalities with geometric mean operators instead of Hardy operators. READ MORE
