6. Importance of insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor and EWS/FLI-1 fusion protein in growth and survival of two different types of neuroectodermal tumor cells
Abstract : Treatment with comparatively low doses of the 3-hydroxy-3-metylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor lovastatin caused growth arrest in both melanoma cells and Ewing's sarcoma (ES) cells. In melanoma cells growth inhibition was correlated with a drastic decrease in N-linked glycosylation of the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R), which in turn was followed by a decreased expression of IGF-1 binding sites at the cell surface. 7. Protein and lipid interactions of mammalian antibacterial peptides
Abstract : Gene-encoded antibacterial peptides are multifunctional effector molecules and play an important role in host innate immunity. Upon stimulation, the mature active peptides are released from inactive precursors. READ MORE

8. Mangafodipir trisodium (MnDPDP)-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of the liver and pancreas
Abstract : Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the liver and pancreas is frequently performed to improve the sensitivity and specificity of lesion detection in these organs. The concept of using tissue-specific contrast media is to selectively enhance the normal parenchyma, but not lesions, so that the contrast between tumorous and normal tissue is increased, and lesion detectability improved. 9. Testosterone : of importance in patients with dysglycemia and cardiovascular disease?
Abstract : Background: Testosterone has been associated with cardiovascular (CV) health in men and women with or without diabetes. There are however conflicting results which warrant further investigations to understand if testosterone is important for prognosis, in particular in relation to diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD). 10. Sickness absence : subsequent psychiatric morbidity and suicidal behaviour
