21. Novel Layered and 2D Materials for Functionality Enhancement of Contacts and Gas Sensors
Abstract : Chemical gas sensors are widely-used electronic devices for detecting or measuring the density levels of desired gas species. In this study, materials with established or potential applications for gas sensors are treated. READ MORE

22. NH3-SCR chemistry for NOx abatement: Influence of zeolite support on N2O formation & phosphorus species addition
Abstract : Different lattice arrangements of Si, Al, and O atoms result in a variety of pore dimensions and zeolite channel network systems, giving rise to different physicochemical environments inside the catalyst cage. The objective of the thesis work was to understand the influence of zeolite topology on NH3-assisted SCR chemistry over CHA, MFI, and BEA frameworks, on the formation of N2O and the addition of phosphorus species to attain fundamental insight into NOx emission control. 23. Synthesis and Photophysical Characterization of Annihilator-Sensitizer Pairs for Triplet-Triplet Annihilation Based Photon Upconversion
Abstract : Transitioning to a future society, independent of fossil fuels, will denitely require the use of solar radiation for power and fuel production. Due to energy mismatch betweendevice absorption and the broad band irradiation provided by the sun there are severe limitations to how efficient devices for direct conversion of solar radiation can be. 24. On the Versatility of Microwave-Assisted Chemistry : Exemplified by Applications in Medicinal Chemistry, Heterocyclic Chemistry and Biochemistry
Abstract : Today, the demand for speed in drug discovery is constantly increasing, particularly in the iterative processes of hit validation and expansion and lead optimization. Irradiation with microwaves (MWs) has been applied in the area of organic synthesis to accelerate chemical reactions and to facilitate the generation of new chemical entities since 1986. READ MORE

25. Immobilisation of Ru-Based Molecular Catalysts for Electrochemical Water Oxidation
Abstract : Artificial photosynthesis requires catalysts for efficient and selective conversions of small molecules. Molecular catalysts are advantageous to use in these instances as they offer precise control over chemical reactivity. READ MORE
