  1. 21. Search for neutrinos from precursors and afterglows of Gamma-ray Bursts using the IceCube Neutrino Observatory

    Author : Kunal Deoskar; Chad Finley; Klas Hultqvist; Magnus Axelsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astroparticle physics; neutrinos; acceleration of particles; Gamma ray bursts; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : Gamma ray bursts (GRBs) have long been considered as a possible source of ultra high energy cosmic rays, which makes them a promising neutrino source candidate. Previous IceCube searches for neutrino correlations with GRBs focused on the prompt phase of the GRB and found no significant correlation between neutrino events and the observed GRBs. READ MORE

  2. 22. Searching for dark matter in the Galactic Halo with IceCube using high energy cascades

    Author : Samuel Flis; Klas Hultqvist; Chad Finley; Emmanuel Moulin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; IceCube; neutrino; dark matter; halo; Milky Way; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The presence of dark matter is inferred at scales ranging from rotations of galaxies to imprints in the CMB – the Big Bang after-glow. The nature of dark matter is, however, still unknown as no detection other than the gravitational one has been made. READ MORE

  3. 23. Searches for Dark Matter with IceCube and DeepCore : New constraints on theories predicting dark matter particles

    Author : Matthias Danninger; Klas Hultqvist; Patrick Decowski; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dark matter; neutrinos; neutrino telescopes; IceCube; DeepCore; dark matter experiments; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The cubic-kilometer sized IceCube neutrino observatory, constructed in the glacial ice at the South Pole, searches indirectly for dark matter via neutrinos from dark matter self-annihilations. It has a high discovery potential through striking signatures. READ MORE

  4. 24. Exploring the nature of ISM turbulencein disc galaxies

    Author : Timmy Ejdetjärn; Göran Östlin; Oscar Agertz; Garrelt Mellema; Troels Haugbølle; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; galaxies; galaxy; disc galaxy; star formation; ISM; interstellar medium; kinematics; dynamics; evolution; turbulence; numerical; Astronomy; astronomi; teoretisk astrofysik; Theoretical Astrophysics;

    Abstract : Galaxy formation is a continuous process that started only a few hundred million yearsafter the Big Bang. The first galaxies were very volatile, with bursts of star formationand disorganised gas motions. READ MORE

  5. 25. Physics-informed inferences of galaxy clustering with Bayesian forward modelling

    Author : Eleni Tsaprazi; Jens Jasche; Ariel Goobar; Alkistis Pourtsidou; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; large-scale structure; galaxy clustering; supernovae; Bayesian statistics; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we showcase four novel approaches to constraining the relationship between cosmological observables and the large-scale structure. The majority of the energy content of the Universe in the concordance cosmological model remains largely unknown. READ MORE
