  1. 1. Studies of Volcanic Plumes with Remote Spectroscopic Sensing Techniques -DOAS and FTIR measurements on volcanoes of the Network for Observation of Volcanic and Atmospheric Change-

    Author : Santiago Arellano; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FTIR; Remote Sensing; DOAS; NOVAC; Volcanic gas emissions;

    Abstract : Volcanism is a rich geodynamical process, closely linked to the origin and ongoing evolution of the lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere. Humans have benefited from the resources provided by volcanoes but also been threatened by the dangers of volcanic eruptions, which accurate prediction remains elusive. READ MORE

  2. 2. Characterization of Hydrogeological Media Using Electromagnetic Geophysics

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Niklas Linde; Uppsala universitet.; [2005]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; Hydrogeophysics; radio magnetotellurics; ground penetrating radar; electrical resistance tomography; inversion; regularization; geostatistics; electrical anisotropy; fractured rock; Geofysik; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics Other physics Geophysics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik Övrig fysik Geofysik;

    Abstract : Radio magnetotellurics (RMT), crosshole ground penetrating radar (GPR), and crosshole electrical resistance tomography (ERT) were applied in a range of hydrogeological applications where geophysical data could improve hydrogeological characterization.A profile of RMT data collected over highly resistive granite was used to map subhorizontal fracture zones below 300m depth, as well as a steeply dipping fracture zone, which was also observed on a coinciding seismic reflection profile. 3. 3. Plane wave electromagnetic measurements for imaging fracture zones

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Lena Persson; Uppsala universitet.; [2001]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; Electromagnetic Measurements Fracture Zones; Geofysik; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics Other physics Geophysics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik Övrig fysik Geofysik; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Abstract : Electromagnetic fields from distant radio transmitters interact with the resistivity structures in the earth. They can be regarded as plane-wave fields since their penetration depth is much smaller than their wavelength. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multidisciplinary Near-Surface Investigation of a Quick-Clay Landslide Prone Area in Southwest Sweden

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Silvia Salas Romero; Uppsala universitet.; [2019]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quick-clay; reflection seismic; landslide; southwest Sweden; borehole logging; physico-chemical properties; hydrogeological modelling; multichannel analysis of surface waves; magnetics; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Abstract : Quick-clay landslides are considered one of the most important geohazards in Sweden, Norway, and Canada. The deposits involved are glacial and postglacial clays and silty clays, which are very sensitive to increased stress that may collapse their structure and cause liquefaction. READ MORE

  5. 5. Seismic imaging of deep crustal reflectivity in Sweden and Iceland

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Niklas Juhojuntti; Uppsala universitet.; [2001]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; seismic; reflectivity; Moho; crust; signal; Geofysik; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics Other physics Geophysics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik Övrig fysik Geofysik; Geofysik med inriktning mot seismologi; Geophysics with specialization in Seismology;

    Abstract : Seismic reflection profiling, originally developed by the petroleum industry, was adapted to systematic imaging of deep structures some 25 years ago. In continental areas, these measurements often show weakly reflective upper crust and strongly reflective lower crust. READ MORE
