16. Machine learning for quantum information and computing
Abstract : This compilation thesis explores the merger of machine learning, quantum information, and computing. Inspired by the successes of neural networks and gradient-based learning, the thesis explores how such ideas can be adapted to tackle complex problems that arise during the modeling and control of quantum systems, such as quantum tomography with noisy data or optimizing quantum operations, by incorporating physics-based constraints. 17. Solving the quantum scattering problem for systems of two and three charged particles
Abstract : A rigorous formalism for solving the Coulomb scattering problem is presented in this thesis. The approach is based on splitting the interaction potential into a finite-range part and a long-range tail part. In this representation the scattering problem can be reformulated to one which is suitable for applying exterior complex scaling. READ MORE

18. Moiré Exciton Landscape and its Optical Properties in Two-Dimensional Semiconductors
Abstract : In recent years the emergence of atomically thin nanomaterials has led to a new research venue, revealing intriguing properties making them an excellent platform to study many-particle quantum phenomena. Of particular interest is the class of nanomaterials called transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), where the strong light-matter coupling reveals promising opportunities in the pursuit of novel optoelectronical devices. 19. Holographic descriptions of collective modes in strongly correlated media
Abstract : Solving the puzzle of high temperature superconductivity may be one of the most desired scientific breakthroughs of our time, as access to room temperature superconductivity could revolutionize society as we know it. In this thesis, we strive to increase the theoretical understanding of such matter, by studying the phase above, in temperature, the superconducting phase - the "strange metal". READ MORE

20. Quantum acoustics with propagating phonons
Abstract : Surface acoustic waves (SAWs) are mechanical vibrations that propagate on the surface of solids while dissipating little power, consequently enabling them to propagate freely over long distances. The speed and wavelength of SAWs are reduced a five order of magnitude compared to when light is used as a carrier at gigahertz frequencies. READ MORE
