    Abstract : The identity of dark matter is one of the key outstanding problems in both particle and astrophysics. In this thesis, I describe a number of complementary searches for particle dark matter. READ MORE

  2. 2. Search for Gamma-ray Lines from Dark Matter with the Fermi Large Area Telescope

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Tomi Ylinen; KTH.; [2010]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fermi; Large Area Telescope; gamma-rays; dark matter; spectral lines; beam test; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics Astronomy and astrophysics Astroparticle physics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik Astronomi och astrofysik Astropartikelfysik;

    Abstract : Dark matter (DM) constitutes one of the most intriguing but so far unresolved issues in physics. In many extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics, the existence of a stable Weakly Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP) is predicted. The WIMP is an excellent DM particle candidate. Abstract : Weak-scale supersymmetry is one of the most favoured theories beyond the Standard Model of particle physics that elegantly solves various theoretical and observational problems in both particle physics and cosmology. In this thesis, I describe the theoretical foundations of supersymmetry, issues that it can address and concrete supersymmetric models that are widely used in phenomenological studies. READ MORE

  4. 4. Subphotospheric dissipation in gamma-ray bursts observed by the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Kungliga Tekniska högskolan

    Author : Björn Ahlgren; KTH.; [2016]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are the brightest events in the Universe, for a short time outshining the rest of the Universe combined, as they explode with isotropic equivalent luminosities up to $10^{54}$ erg s$^{-1}$. These events are believed to be connected to supernovae and to binary compact object mergers, such as binary neutron stars or neutron star -- black hole systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Parametric Model for Astrophysical Proton-Proton Interactions and Applications

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH
