1. Searches for Particle Dark Matter : Dark stars, dark galaxies, dark halos and global supersymmetric fits
Abstract : The identity of dark matter is one of the key outstanding problems in both particle and astrophysics. In this thesis, I describe a number of complementary searches for particle dark matter. READ MORE

2. Seeking the faint extremes : Detection and characterisation of extragalactic soft-spectrum gamma-ray sources and exploring methods to enhance their detection with machine learning in the 50 GeV-50 TeV energy range
Abstract : This thesis deals with an observational study of Blazars, strong gamma-ray sources with Very High Energies (VHE) located far outside our Galaxy. Blazars are a class of galaxies that contain a supermassive black hole that is actively consuming large quantities of matter, a process that results in the liberation of tremendous amounts of energy that then powers the emission of huge bulks of charged particles that get accelerated almost to the speed of light. 3. Supersymmetry vis-à-vis Observation : Dark Matter Constraints, Global Fits and Statistical Issues
Abstract : Weak-scale supersymmetry is one of the most favoured theories beyond the Standard Model of particle physics that elegantly solves various theoretical and observational problems in both particle physics and cosmology. In this thesis, I describe the theoretical foundations of supersymmetry, issues that it can address and concrete supersymmetric models that are widely used in phenomenological studies. READ MORE

4. Core-collapse Supernovae : Theory vs. Observations
Abstract : A core-collapse supernova (CCSN) is an astronomical explosion that indicates the death of a massive star. The iron core of the star collapses into either a neutron star or a black hole while the rest of the material is expelled at high velocities. READ MORE

5. Cosmic clues from astrophysical particles
Abstract : Ultra-high-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) are charged particles that have been accelerated to extreme energies, such that they are effectively travelling at the speed of light. Interactions of these particles with the Earth’s atmosphere lead to the development of extensive showers of particles and radiation that can be measured with existing technology. READ MORE
