  1. 1. Investigating structural changes of cellulose using NMR spectroscopy

    Author : Alexander Idström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; crystallinity index; NCC; ionic liquids; CP MAS 13C-NMR; hornification; native cellulose; regenerated cellulose; NMR cryoporometry; pulp; Solid-state NMR;

    Abstract : In this thesis solid-state NMR and NMR cryoporometry were used to gain information of the structure of cellulose. Measurements were conducted on both native and regenerated cellulose, exposed to a range of different treatments. READ MORE

  2. 2. Developing a Framework for Supply Chain Planning in Construction

    Author : Micael Thunberg; Martin Rudberg; Anna Fredriksson; Fredrik Persson; Tina Karrbom-Gustavsson; Jan Holmström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Supply chain management (SCM) has been stressed as a remedy to many of the underlying issues in the construction industry. However, the positive examples where SCM has been successfully utilised and diminished the lingering issues in construction is scarce. The question is why. READ MORE

  3. 3. Immunoreactive proteins in Taenia solium/cysticercus cellulosae

    Author : Noémia Jeremias Nhancupe; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cysticercosis caused by Taenia solium is a common zoonotic parasitic disease in Latin America, Asia, Africa, and parts of Oceania, and it is responsible for many cases of epileptic seizures. Imaging techniques used to diagnose neurocysticercosis (NCC) are expensive and therefore rarely available in endemic countries. READ MORE

  4. 4. The Neurological Wake-up Test in Neurocritical Care

    Author : Karin Skoglund; Niklas Marklund; Per Enblad; Tiit Mathiesen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Intracranial pressure; Cerebral perfusion pressure; Propofol sedation; Wake-up test; stress hormones; intracerebral microdialysis; brain tissue oxygenation; jugular venous oxygenation; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Abstract : The neurological wake-up test, NWT, is a clinical monitoring tool that can be used to evaluate the level of consciousness in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) during neurocritical care (NCC). Since patients with severe TBI or SAH are often treated with mechanical ventilation and sedation, the NWT requires that the continuous sedation is interrupted. READ MORE

  5. 5. Taeniasis and cysticercosis in Honduras : epidemiological, serological, and clinical aspects

    Author : Ana Lourdes Sanchez; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Taenia solium; taeniasis; cysticercosis; neurocysticercosis; porcine cysticercosis; computed tomography; enzyme-linked immunoelectrotransfer blot EITB assay; epilepsy; prevalence; epidemiology; Honduras;

    Abstract : Taenia solium taeniasis and cysticercosis are recognised as important and increasing public health problems in Latin America. These infections not only have a significant socio-economical impact due to chronic morbidity, decreased productivity of affected persons, high cost of medical diagnosis and treatment, but also cause economical losses due to the condemnation of infected pork meat.
