16. Theoretical Characterization of Functional Molecular Materials
Abstract : Nowadays, material, energy and information technologies are three pillar industries. The materials that have close relation with our life have also been the foundation for the development of energy and information technologies. READ MORE

17. Complex Excitations in Advanced Functional Materials
Abstract : Understanding the fundamental electronic properties of materials is a key step to develop innovations in many fields of technology. For example, this has allowed to design molecular based devices like organic field effect transistors, organic solar cells and molecular switches. READ MORE

18. Preparation and characterization of an organic-based magnet
Abstract : In the growing field of spintronics there is a strong need for development of flexible lightweight semi-conducting magnets. Molecular organic-based magnets are attractive candidates since it is possible to tune their properties by organic chemistry, making them so-called “designer magnets”. READ MORE

19. Probing the effects of photodegradation of acceptor materials in polymer solar cells: bulk, surface, and molecular level
Abstract : Polymer solar cells (PSC) have reached record power conversion efficiencies of over 15%. The operational lifetime of PSCs, however, has to increase for their use in large area outdoor applications. READ MORE

20. Infrared - X-ray pump probe spectroscopy
Abstract : The present thesis concerns theoretical studies of molecular interactions investigated by infrared and X-ray spectroscopic techniques, with emphasis on using the two technologies combined in pump probe experiments. Three main types of studies are addressed: the use of near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectra (NEXAFS) to manifest through-bond and through-space interactions; the role of hydrogen bonding on the formation of X-ray photoelectron spectra as evidenced by simulations of the water dimer; and the development of theory, with sample applications, for infrared X-ray pump probe spectroscopy - the main theme of the thesis.
