  1. 6. Transcriptional regulation of the Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen 1 gene in latent and lytic stages of infection

    Author : Henrik Zetterberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Epstein-Barr virus; EBNA1; Burkitt s lymphoma; nasopharyngeal carcinoma; ; B-lymphocyte; transformation; transcriptional regulation;

    Abstract : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a lymphotropic herpesvirus that infects more than 90% of humans worldwide. The virus is the causative agent of infectious mononucleosis, a self-limiting lymphoproliferative disorder, and is also associated with a variety of malignancies including Burkitt's lymphoma (BL), Hodgkin's disease (HD), nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), and lymphoproliferative disorders in immunocompromised individuals. 2. 7. Molecular Insights into Kcnq1ot1 Noncoding Antisense RNA Mediated Long Range Transcriptional Gene Silencing

    Author : Radha Raman Pandey; Chandrasekhar Kanduri; Karl Ekwall; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epigenetics; gene silencing; noncoding RNA; genomic imprinting; Kcnq1ot1; Medical genetics; Medicinsk genetik;

    Abstract : Non-coding antisense RNAs have been implicated in the epigenetic silencing of individual gene as well as chromosomal domains. While silencing of the overlapping gene by antisense RNAs has been well investigated, their functional role in silencing of chromosomal domains remains enigmatic. READ MORE

  3. 8. Studies on the regulatory role of cholic acid in cholesterol metabolism

    Author : Charlotte Murphy; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cholesterol is essential for normal growth and development in both man and mouse. However, excess cholesterol can be harmful leading to diseases such as atherosclerosis and gallstones. Once formed cholesterol cannot be catabolised by the body and must therefore be converted to other compounds for excretion. READ MORE

  4. 9. Transcriptional Regulation of the Platelet-Derived Growth Factor B-receptor by p53 Family Members

    Author : Daniel Wetterskog; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Aims: The platelet-derived growth factor ?-receptor (PDGFRB) is critically involved in embryonic development and has a role in many diseases. In cells, signaling through PDGFRB affects growth, migration and death. READ MORE

  5. 10. Tripeptidyl-Peptidase II : Structure, Function and Gene Regulation

    Author : Ann-Christin Lindås; Birgitta Tomkinson; Mikael Widersten; Ralf Morgenstern; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Biochemistry; gene regulation; protein expression; enzyme kinetics; tripeptidyl-peptidase II; proteasome; intracellular protein degradation; exopeptidase; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The protein degradation process is of vital importance for the cell to maintain cellular functions. An important enzyme in this process is the multimeric tripeptidyl-peptidase II (TPP II). It removes tripeptides from a free N-terminus of the substrates. READ MORE
