  1. 1. Meteoric Aerosols in the Middle Atmosphere

    Author : Linda Megner; Jörg Gumbel; Martin Ridal; Gary E. Thomas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; meteoroid; meteor; nucleation; mesosphere; stratosphere; ablation; smoke; NLC; PMSE; PSC; Atmosphere and hydrosphere sciences; Atmosfärs- och hydrosfärsvetenskap; atmosfärvetenskap; Atmospheric Sciences;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the fate of the meteoric smoke in the Middle Atmosphere, and its effect on ice phenomena such as noctilucent clouds (NLC) and polar stratospheric clouds (PSC). The potential role of NLC as tracer for mesospheric processes and variability, and as a tool for monitoring this remote and inaccessible region, has generated substantial interest within the scientific community. 3. 3. Mechanical Pulp Based Nano-ligno-cellulose : Production, Characterisation and their Effect on Paper Properties

    Author : Sinke Henshaw Osong; Per Engstrand; Sven Norgren; Kristin Syverud; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mechanical pulp; thermo-mechanical pulp; chemi-thermomechanical pulp; fractionation; fines; homogenisation; nanocellulose; nano-ligno-cellulose NLC ; handsheets; strength properties; crill;

    Abstract : Almost all research on biorefinery concepts are based on chemical pulping processes and ways of utilising lignin, hemicelluloses and extractives as well as a part of the remaining cellulose for production of nano materials in order to create more valuable products than today. Within the Forest as a Resource (FORE) research program at FSCN we are utilising the whole chain of unit processes from forestry to final products as paper and board, where the pulping process research focus on high yield process as TMP and CTMP. 4. 4. Noctilucent clouds in a coupled atmosphere

    Author : Bodil Karlsson; Peter Sigray; Jacek Stegman; Scott Bailey; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Noctilucent clouds; atmospheric dynamics; Meteorology; Meteorologi; atmosfärvetenskap; Atmospheric Sciences;

    Abstract : Noctilucent clouds (NLC) at altitudes around 80 km are the highest clouds in our atmosphere. They have been a subject of research ever since their discovery in the late 19th century. This thesis takes an important step towards using NLC as a tool for studying dynamic coupling processes in the atmosphere on a global scale. READ MORE

  5. 5. Long-term observations of polar mesosphere summer echoes using the ESRAD MST radar

    Author : Maria Smirnova; Patrick Joseph Espy; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rymdteknik; Space Technology;

    Abstract : Polar Mesosphere Summer Echoes (PMSE) are strong radar echoes observed from altitudes of 80-90 km in polar regions, during summer time. PMSE are closely related to the fascinating atmospheric phenomenon known as noctilucent clouds (NLC). READ MORE
