11. Synaptic transmission and synaptic plasticity in the mouse striatum
Abstract : The striatum is the major input nucleus of the basal ganglia and can be subdivided into a dorsal part and a ventral part that is also named nucleus accumbens (NAc). The dorsal part is involved in motor control and habit learning whereas the ventral part is mostly associated with rewardmotivated behaviors. READ MORE

12. Regulation by glutamate- and adenosine-receptors of dopamine and acetylcholine release from rat striatal slices
Abstract : The striatum, which is critically involved in sensory motor integration, receives an excitatory glutamatergic input from the cerebral cortex and the thalamus. The effects of the glutamatergic stimulation are modulated by dopamine (DA) released from a prominent dopaminergic input, acetylcholine (ACh) released from cholinergic interneurons and by the ubiquitous neuromodulator adenosine. 13. Physiopathological aspects of NMDA transmission in the basal ganglia : in vitro and in vivo release studies
Abstract : N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) is an excitatory amino acid selectively acting on a subclass of glutamate receptors (the NMDA ionotropic receptor) which has been involved in many of the physiological and pathological effects of glutamate in the CNS. The basal ganglia are particularly enriched in NMDA receptors and NMDA receptor activation in the basal ganglia has been involved in the expression of motor behaviour. READ MORE

14. Self-Organizing Body Maps in the Spinal Cord
Abstract : During development primary afferents grow into and establish neuronal connections in the spinal cord, conveying information of the anatomical and mechanical properties of the body. This body representation forms the basis for how we perceive sensory information and control our movements. READ MORE

15. Effects of ethanol on NMDA receptor-mediated functions in primary cultures of cerebellar granule cells
Abstract : Primary cultures of cerebellar granule cells were used to investigate the effects of acute and chronic exposure of ethanol on NMDA receptor functions and to examine the possible sites of interaction between ethanol and the NMDA receptor. Activation of NMDA receptors induced elevation of free cytoplasmic Ca2+, Ca2+ influx, activation of protein kinase C and neurotoxicity. READ MORE
