11. On the colloidal and molecular aspects of peptide self-assembly
Abstract : Peptide self-assembly is a spontaneous process, ubiquitous in nature for the creation of highly ordered and complex biological structures, making it a sought after technique in the development of novel biocompatible materials. The process is also strongly associated with various neurodegenerative diseases in the formation of amyloid plaques in diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, where fully functioning proteins aggregate are reassembled into nonfunctional fibrillar aggregates that eventually lead to cell death. 12. Processing, stability and interactions of lung surfactant protein C
Abstract : Mature SP-C is a 4.2 kDa transmembrane protein which is uniquely expressed in the alveolar type II cell. Human SP-C is generated via multistep proteolytic cleavage of both the C-terminal and Nterminal regions of proSP-C. READ MORE

13. Pulmonary surfactant proteins B and C : molecular organisation and involvement in respiratory disease
Abstract : Lung surfactant is a complex mixture of phospholipids and proteins with the main function to reduce the surface tension at the alveolar air/liquid interface. Surfactant protein B (SP-B) and C (SP-C) are hydrophobic but unrelated in structure, and probably have unique functional roles in the formation of the surface-active monolayer. READ MORE
