  1. 1. Multi-platform metabolomics assays to study the responsiveness of the human plasma and lung lavage metabolome

    Author : Masoumeh Karimpour; Malin Nording L.; Magnus Åberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LC MS; GC MS; NMR; metabolomics; metabolite; exposure; postprandial; plasma; lung lavage; BW; BW; data analysis; univariate analysis; multivariate analysis;

    Abstract : Metabolomics as a field has been used to track changes and perturbations in the human body by investigating metabolite profiles indicating the change of metabolite levels over time and in response to different challenges. In this thesis work, the main focus was on applying multiplatform-metabolomics to study the human metabolome following exposure to perturbations, such as diet (in the form of a challenge meal) and exhaust emissions (air pollution exposure in a controlled setting). 2. 2. Profiling Plasma Metabolite Alterations in Diet-Induced Obesity and Diabetes Using NMR Metabolomics

    Author : João Vieira; Diabetes och hjärnans funktion; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; metabolite profiling; diet-induced obesity; type 2 diabetes mellitus; 1H-NMR spectroscopy; metabolism alterations; post-stroke recovery;

    Abstract : Diets rich in saturated fat and sedentary lifestyles markedly contribute to obesity and metabolic syndrome-related diseases, including type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D). Metabolite profiling plays a pivotal role in understanding these metabolic diseases. READ MORE

  3. 3. Piperaquine - Bioanalys, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics

    Author : Joel Tärning; Göteborgs universitet; []

    Abstract : Malaria is one of the most abundant parasitic diseases in the world affecting many of the poorest economies. The estimated prevalence is 300 to 700 million clinical episodes each year with up to 3 million deaths. READ MORE

  4. 4. Processing and analysis of NMR data : Impurity determination and metabolic profiling

    Author : Jenny Forshed; Sven P. Jacobsson; Jules L. Griffin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry; qNMR; multivariate analysis; peak alignment; data fusion; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometry as an analytical tool. The theory of NMR spectroscopy in general and quantitative NMR spectrometry (qNMR) in particular is described and the instrumental properties and parameter setups for qNMR measurements are discussed. Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is based on methodology development and mechanistic investigations using heterogeneous palladium and nickel catalysts. Following the introduction (Chapter 1), Chapter 2 presents a summary of the synthesis and characterization of the MOF-supported Pd catalysts (Pd @ MOF) that are used in this thesis. READ MORE
