  1. 1. NMR Diffusometry and Dynamic NMR Microscopy Studies of Colloidal Systems

    Author : Helena Wassenius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diffusion behaviour; dynamic NMR microscopy; NMR diffusometry; core-shell latex particles; NMR velocimetry; rheology; colloidal systems;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the NMR diffusometry and dynamic NMR microscopy methods were shown to be useful techniques with a great potential for the study of colloidal systems. In Paper I-II, NMR diffusometry was used to study the behaviour of surfactant and polymer molecules that are normally important components in colloidal dispersions and emulsions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Pulsed Field Gradient NMR Studies of Diffusion in Polymer Gels

    Author : Diana Bernin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; diffusion; gel; alginate; pulsed field gradient NMR; 19F NMR; cellulose; 1H NMR; dendrimer; biomaterial; mass transport;

    Abstract : Soft biomaterials, such as gels, play an important role in different kinds of products and applications, in particular in drug delivery systems, health care products, and food. Polymer gel's great ability to control mass transport is applied on e.g. the uptake of liquids in diapers. READ MORE

  3. 3. Drugs and polymers in dissolving solid dispersions : NMR imaging and spectroscopy

    Author : Carina Dahlberg; István Furó; Anna Millqvist-Fureby; Michael Schuleit; Jadwiga Tritt-Goc; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi; PHARMACY; FARMACI;

    Abstract : The number of poorly water-soluble drug substances in the pharmaceutical pipeline is increasing, and thereby also the need to design effective drug delivery systems providing high bioavailability. One favourable formulation approach is preparation of solid dispersions, where dispersing a poorly water-soluble drug in a water-soluble polymer matrix improves the dissolution behaviour and the bioavailability of the drug. 4. 4. Investigation of microstructure and porosity of columnar yttria-stabilized zirconia coatings produced by axial suspension plasma spraying

    Author : Johanna Ekberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; X-ray microscopy; thermal barrier coatings; NMR cryoporometry; suspension plasma spraying; scanning electron microscopy; porosity measurements;

    Abstract : Ceramic topcoats provide thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) with its heat insulating properties. The heat transfer is primarily occurring by conduction through the bulk material, therefore features such as interfaces, pores and grain boundaries are essential for thermal insulation as they act as scattering sites. 5. 5. Association and Microstructure in Self-Assembling Catanionic Systems

    Author : Eduardo Marques; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFG NMR self-diffusion; cryogenic-transmission electron microscopy; catanionic systems; gels; bile salts; polyelectrolytes; liquid crystals; vesicles; Surfactants; phase diagrams; light microscopy; Theoretical chemistry; quantum chemistry; Teoretisk kemi; kvantkemi;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the phase behavior and phase structure in mixed surfactant-surfactant and surfactant-polymer systems, where the co-solutes have opposite charges (catanionic systems). The initial goal has been to investigate self-assembly aspects in mixtures of single-/double-chained surfactants and bile salt/double-chained surfactants, with the main focus on vesicle assembly in dilute regions.
