  1. 16. Building Systems for Electronic Probing of Single Low Dimensional Nano-objects : Application to Molecular Electronics and Defect Induced Graphene

    Author : Syed Hassan Mujtaba Jafri; Klaus Leifer; Aidan Quinn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Graphene; defect induced graphene; molecular electronics; nanoelectrodes; nanoparticles; conductivity; junction; nanomaterial; focused ion beam; surface functionalization; electrical characterization; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot materialanalys; Engineering Science with specialization in Materials Analysis;

    Abstract : Nano-objects have unique properties due to their sizes, shapes and structure. When electronic properties of such nano-objects are used to build devices, the control of interfaces at atomic level is required. READ MORE

  2. 17. Structure and morphology control of organic semiconductors for functional optoelectronic applications

    Author : Jenny Enevold; Ludvig Edman; Thomas Wågberg; Christian Müller; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic electronics; organic photonics; patterning; fullerene; polymerization; dimerization; spray-deposition; morphology; small molecule donor; high open-circuit voltage;

    Abstract : The functionality and application of organic semiconductors are largely dependent on their constituent structure and morphology. This thesis presents a number of functional and novel approaches for the control and tuning of structural and morphological features of a variety of organic semiconductor materials, and also demonstrates that these approaches can be utilized for improved device operation of field-effect transistors, organic solar cells and light-emitting electrochemical cells. 3. 18. Mille-feuille Filter : A Non-woven Nano-cellulose Based Virus Removal Filter for Bioprocessing

    Author : Simon Gustafsson; Albert Mihranyan; Jonas Lindh; Kurt Brorson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; virus filtration; mille-feuille; downstream; nanocellulose; protein throughput; protein recovery; LRV; MVM; Cladophora; non-woven filter;

    Abstract : Virus removal filters, produced from synthetic surface-modified polymers or regenerated cellulose by phase inversion, are vital to the production of therapeutic proteins such as monoclonal antibodies and plasma proteins. Use of these filters is also one of the most expensive purification steps in the downstream processing of proteins due to high sales price and being limited to a single use. READ MORE

  4. 19. Rare-gas Clusters Studied by Electron Spectroscopy : Structure of Heterogeneous Clusters and Effects of Electron Scattering on Auger Decay

    Author : Marcus Lundwall; Olle Björneholm; Gunnar Öhrwall; Maxim Tchaplyguine; Thomas Möller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; Nano-particles; Clusters; Heterogeneous clusters; Core-shell clusters; XPS; UPS; AES; Electron scattering; Radial structure; Surface structure; Surface sensitivity; Synchrotron radiation; Ne; Ar; Kr; Xe; Fysik;

    Abstract : In this Thesis experimental studies of nano-clusters using synchrotron radiation based photoelectron (UPS and XPS) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES) are presented. The investigations may be divided into two parts where the first reports on the structure of heterogeneous two component clusters, and the second concerns electronic decay processes. READ MORE

  5. 20. Ordered arrays of low-dimensional Au and Pd : synthesis and in situ observations

    Author : Giuseppe Abbondanza; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanowires NWs ; nanorods; nanoparticles; Au; Pd; Al; Al2O3; anodization; nano-porous anodic aluminum oxide; powder diffraction; x-ray diffraction; x-ray scattering; SAXS; WAXS; grazing-incidence; two-dimensional surface optical reflectance;

    Abstract : Electrodeposition of metals in templates of nano-porous anodic aluminum oxide (NP-AAO) is a versatile way of fabricating ordered arrays of metal nanowires. Thanks to the self-arranged long-range hexagonal order of the pores, electrodeposition in NP-AAO is an easily scalable bottom-up synthesis route and an attractive alternative to traditional top-down fabrication methods such as electron beam lithography.
