21. Application of magnetic nanoparticles and reactive filter materials for wastewater treatment
Abstract : Lately sewage wastewater treatment processes (WWTP) are facing challenges due to strict regulations in quality of effluent standards and waste production. The reuse of wastewater treatment effluents is rapidly gaining attention as a means of achieving sustainable water supply. Therefore, new methods are required to achieve an efficient WWTP. READ MORE

22. Development of Protein-Functionalized Magnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles: Potential Application in Water Treatment
Abstract : The treatment of water to make it safe for human consumption is a problem of immense concern, both in developing and developed countries. However, the production of clean water with chemicals as coagulants has several drawbacks associated with cost, health risks and complexity in sludge management. READ MORE

23. Spectroscopic studies of biomolecules confined in self-assembled nanostructures
Abstract : The present thesis examines the effects of incorporating biomolecules into self-assembled nanostructures. This approach is exemplified by short DNA molecules in environments close to lipid bilayers and the immobilization of enzymes into mesoporous silica particles. READ MORE

24. Plasmonics with a Twist: from Single Particles to Metasurfaces
Abstract : Nanophotonics deals with how electromagnetic fields can be confined and squeezed to orders of dimensions below the light wavelength. Plasmonics, one of the fields of nanophotonics, study collective free electron oscillations driven by light in metallic nanostructures and interfaces. READ MORE

25. Development of high-Tc SQUID magnetometers for on-scalp MEG
Abstract : This thesis describes the development of high critical temperature superconducting quantum interference device (high-Tc SQUID) magnetometers based on bicrystal grain boundary and nanowire junctions for the potential use in on-scalp magnetoencephalography (MEG), which is a new generation MEG technique with reduced sensor-to-subject standoff distances.MEG is a method of mapping neural dynamics in the human brain by recording the magnetic fields produced by neural currents.
