16. Nonlinear rheological characterization of cellulose nanocrystals based systems
Abstract : In this thesis, cellulose nanocrystals based systems were investigated using advanced rheological characterization techniques, with a particular focus on nonlinear material response functions and Rheo-PLI (Polarized Light Imaging). Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) show enormous potential for many applications, either as material on its own or as renewable reinforcement in polymers. READ MORE

17. Colloidal synthesis of metal oxide nanocrystals and thin films
Abstract : A main driving force behind the recent years’ immense interest in nanoscience and nanotechnology is the possibility of achieving new material properties and functionalities within, e.g., material physics, biomedicine, sensor technology, chemical catalysis, energy storing systems, and so on. 18. Chemical modification of cellulose-new possibilities of some classical routes
Abstract : Owning to its unique structure, along with the inexhaustible renewability, cellulose has been a subject of scientific and commercial interest for over 150 years. However, given attractive structural properties, such as stiffness, hydrophilicity, stereoregularity, potential for chemical modifications and ability to form superstructures, utilization of this biopolymer is far below its potential. 19. The Study of II-VI Semiconductor Nanocrystals Sensitized Solar Cells
Abstract : Semiconductor nanocrystals, also referred to as quantum dots (QDs), have been the focus of great scientific and technological efforts in solar cells, as a result of their advantages of low-cost, photostability, high molar extinction coefficients and size-dependent optical properties. Due to the multi-electron generation effect, the theoretically maximum efficiency of quantum dots-sensitized solar cells (QDSCs) is as high as 44%, which is much higher than that of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). 20. Melt-processing and properties of thermoplastic composites based on ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer reinforced with wood nanocellulose
Abstract : Composites reinforced with cellulose nanofibers (CNF), both modified and unmodified cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) and pulp fibers have been prepared through small-scale and large-scale methods. The composites were produced by water-assisted dispersion mixing, drying and compression moulding on the laboratory scale and by extrusion and injection moulding for the large-scale production.
