1. Risk, language and discourse
Abstract : This doctoral thesis analyses the concept of risk and how it functions as an organizing principle of discourse, paying close attention to actual linguistic practice. Article 1 analyses the concepts of risk, safety and security and their relations based on corpus data (the Corpus of Contemporary American English). READ MORE

2. Bottom-up Fabrication of Functional DNA Nanostructures
Abstract : This thesis demonstrates bottom-up fabrication of a fully addressable non-repetitive network on the nanometer scale, assembled by synthetic DNA molecules. Each side constitutes a unique sequence of 10 bases, i.e. 3. READ MORE

3. Formation and Characterization of DNA Concatemers for Single Molecule Mechanism Studies
Abstract : Well known as genetic information carrier, DNA however, in the past three decade experienced a revolution to become a fashionable fabrication material in nanotechnology as a consequence of the high predictability and accuracy of base-paring recognition. Although DNA can be constructed in many fancy 2D and 3D structures, this thesis work focused on constructing one-dimension linear DNA concatemers in order to study sequence specific DNA-ligand binding at the single-molecule level. 4. Creation of a Nanometer-Scale Toolbox for Molecular Motor Transport-Circuits
Abstract : This thesis presents studies of molecular motors in interaction with nm-scale structures, as well as the development of a set of tools that can be used for the construction of custom-designed nano-transportation systems. In our studies, we have used the latest nanoscale technology and combined this with advanced results from chemistry and biomedical sciences. READ MORE

5. Nanotube Vesicle Networks: Immobilization and Transport Studies
Abstract : Surfactant lipids are an essential element of living cells. They are the basis for the biomembranes that envelope and divide cells into compartments. In addition to this static function, lipid membranes also play a role in dynamic processes such as transport and signaling. READ MORE
