1. DNA-Controlled Lipid-Membrane Fusion
Abstract : Membrane fusion is essential for nerve-cell communication, for protein transport between cell organelles and the cell-membrane and for enabling the merger between virus and host membranes during virus infection. We have demonstrated that short DNA oligonucleotides, membrane-attached via CH in an orientation that mimics the overall zipperlike architecture of fusion-inducing proteins, induce fusion of both suspended vesicles and vesicles site-specifically tethered to SLBs. 2. Lipid Vesicle Fusion: Investigation, Generation and Manipulation of Cell-Membrane Mimics
Abstract : Membrane fusion is essential for nerve-cell communication, for protein transport between cell organelles and the cell-membrane and for enabling the merger between virus and host membranes during virus infection. In this work, cell-membrane mimics were constructed and evaluated as models for studies of the membrane-fusion process. READ MORE

3. Hydrodynamic flow for deterministic sorting of cell-membrane components
Abstract : The biological membrane, an amphiphilic structure that is the barrier between the cell interior and exterior, is one of the vital building blocks of all cells. Not only does it define the outer boundaries of the cell, it also carries important biological function by virtue of the proteins and other molecules that constitute the membrane, the function of which is in turn intimately coupled to their association with the lipid-based membrane. 4. Probing and elucidating the dynamics of virus-membrane interaction via plasma membrane mimics
Abstract : Virus infection is initiated by the attachment of a virion to a susceptible cell’s plasma membrane, in a highly dynamic and well-orchestrated process that encompasses various steps and engages numerous viral and cellular factors. These dynamic steps may include initial non-specific binding to ubiquitous cell-membrane ligands, diffusion across the membrane to a suitable entry site and virus engagement with various receptors and co-receptors on the cell surface. 5. Insight into the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway : The interplay of the pro-apoptotic Bax protein with oxidized phospholipids and its counterplayer, the pro-survival Bcl-2 protein
Abstract : Apoptosis plays a crucial role in multicellular organisms by preserving tissue homeostasis and removing harmful cells. The anti-apoptotic B-cell CLL/lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) and the pro-apoptotic Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax) act as major regulators of the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway. READ MORE
