1. Methods of Measuring Radioactivity in the Environment
Abstract : In this thesis a variety of sampling methods have been utilised to assess the amount of deposited activity, mainly of Cs-137, from the Chernobyl accident and from the nuclear weapons tests. Starting with the Chernobyl accident in 1986 sampling of air and rain was used to determine the composition and amount of radioactive debris from this accident, brought to southern Sweden by the weather systems. 2. Activity concentrations of radionuclides in energy production from peat, wood chips and straw
Abstract : In this thesis quantitative analyses of radionuclide concentrations in bioenergy fuels such as peat, wood chips and straw are presented. For comparison a brief description is included of radionuclide concentrations and radiation doses from other sources of power and also from some industrial applications. READ MORE

3. Distribution, Sources and Environmental Pathways of Radioactive 129I in Fresh and Saline Water in the Baltic Region
Abstract : This thesis deals with distribution, sources and pathways of radioactive 129I (T1/2=15.6 My) in 54 rivers covering the Baltic region, precipitation (rain and snow) from southern, central and northern Sweden, and saline water from three depth profiles in the Baltic Sea and a surface water transect from the Baltic to the Kattegat. 4. Excursions Along the Drip Line
Abstract : The drip lines are the outer boundaries of the chart of the nuclides, terminating the isobaric chains on both sides of the valley of .beta.-stability with respect to stability against particle emission. The neutron drip line is, at the moment, only experimentally accessible for the very lightest elements. READ MORE
