  1. 21. Bio-inspired retinal optic flow perception in robotic navigation

    Author : Björnborg Nguyen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; robotic navigation; active fixation; visual perception; bionics; Retinal optic flow fields; gazing; optic flow; retinal flow path;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the bio-inspired visual perception of motion with emphasis on locomotion targeting robotic systems. By continuously registering moving visual features in the human retina, a sensation of a visual flow cue is created. An interpretation of visual flow cues forms a low-level motion perception more known as retinal optic flow. READ MORE

  2. 22. Navigation sensors for mobile robots

    Author : Håkan Fredriksson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industriell elektronik; Industrial Electronics;

    Abstract : In mobile robot applications navigation systems are of great importance. Automation of mobile robots demands robust navigation systems. This thesis deals with a few solutions on how to help a mobile robot navigate in an environment. READ MORE

  3. 23. Visual Inertial Navigation and Calibration

    Author : Martin A. Skoglund; Fredrik Gustafsson; Thomas Schön; Henk Luinge; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Processing and interpretation of visual content is essential to many systems and applications. This requires knowledge of how the content is sensed and also what is sensed. Such knowledge is captured in models which, depending on the application, can be very advanced or simple. READ MORE

  4. 24. Bayesian Inference in Terrain Navigation

    Author : Niclas Bergman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Terrain navigation is a concept for autonomous aircraft navigation. If measurements of the terrain height over mean sea-level are collected along the aircraft flight path, an estimate of the aircraft position can be formed by matching these measurements with a digital reference terrain map. This matching is a recursive nonlinear estimation problem. READ MORE

  5. 25. Repeated Path Planning for Mobile Robots in Dynamic Environments

    Author : Maarja Kruusmaa; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; decision-making; mobile robot; case-based reasoning; navigation; dynamic environments; path planning;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a global navigation strategy for repeated traverse of mobile robots in dynamic environments. The research is motivated by the fact that most real-world applications of mobile robotics imply repeated traverse between predefined target points in large, uncertain real-world domains. READ MORE
