  1. 1. Extracellular serine proteases as virulence factors in nematophagous fungi: Molecular characterization and functional analysis of the PII protease in Arthrobotrys oligospora

    University dissertation from Microbial Ecology, Lund University

    Author : Johan Åhman; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2000]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Aspergillus niger.; Heterologous expression; Over-expression; Gene-disruption; Transformation system; Serine protease; Biological control; Arthrobotrys oligospora; Fungi; Nematophagous; Biologi;

    Abstract : Nematophagous fungi are parasites of nematodes, thus they have been considered and tested for biological control of parasitic nematodes, but so far with limited success. Due to the fact that the nematode cuticle is composed of proteins it is likely that fungal extracellular proteases are involved in the infection of nematodes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ecology of nematophagous fungi in agricultural soils

    University dissertation from Microbial Ecology, Lund University

    Author : Lotta Persmark; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1997]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic farming; Fungistasis; Competition; Bacteria; Conidial traps; Rhizosphere; Seasonal variation; Distribution; Endoparasitic; Nematode; Nematode-trapping; Ecology; Ekologi;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Nematofaga svampar förekommer inom många grupper i svampriket och har den gemensamma förmågan att döda nematoder (millimeterstora rundmaskar) och använda dem som näring. Vissa arter är obligata parasiter, medan andra är fakultativa saprofyter, vilket innebär att de förutom att parasitera nematoder lever av dött organiskt material. READ MORE

  3. 3. Transcriptome Analyses of the Nematode-trapping Fungus Monacrosporium haptotylum

    University dissertation from Margareta Tholander Mikrobiologisk ekologi Ekologihuset Sölvegatan 37 223 62 Lund

    Author : Margareta Tholander; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Pathogenic fungi; Nematophagous fungi; Nematodes; Biological control; cDNA microarray; Transcriptome analysis; Nematode-trapping fungi; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : Nematode-trapping fungi are soil living organisms with the ability to infect and kill nematodes. These fungi have developed specialized infection structures, traps for the capture of nematodes. To be able to identify genes in nematode-trapping fungi that are involved in the infection of nematodes cDNA microarrays were constructed. READ MORE
