  1. 1. A Rational Exergy Management Model to Curb CO2 Emissions in the Exergy-Aware Built Environments of the Future

    Author : Siir Kilkis; Folke Björk; Bahram Moshfegh; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Exergy; CO2 emissions; built environment; buildings; energy system; scenario-based analysis; mitigation strategies; net-zero; LEED; energy transition; transition management; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : This thesis puts forth the means of a strategic approach to address a persistent problem in the energy system and in this way, to transition the built environment to a future state that is more exergy-aware to curb CO2 emissions. Such a vision is made possible by the six-fold contributions of the research work: I) An analytical model is developed, which for the first time, formulates the CO2 emissions that are compounded in the energy system as a function of the systematic failures to match the supply and demand of exergy. 2. 2. Air-Sea Fluxes of CO2 : Analysis Methods and Impact on Carbon Budget

    Author : Maria Norman; Anna Rutgersson; Erik Sahlée; William Drennan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; air-sea exchange; carbon dioxide; Baltic Sea; eddy-covariance method; inertial dissipation method; cospectral-peak method; Baltic Sea measurements; CO2 fluxes; Galathea 3 expedition; Baltic Sea modeling; water-side convection; coastal upwelling; carbon budget; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Abstract : Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an important greenhouse gas, and the atmospheric concentration of CO2 has increased by more than 100 ppm since prior to the industrial revolution.  The global oceans are considered an important sink of atmospheric CO2, since approximately one third of the anthropogenic emissions are absorbed by the oceans. 3. 3. Economic growth, energy consumption and CO2 emissions in Sweden 1800-2000

    Author : Astrid Kander; Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; energy intensity; Environmental Kuznets Curve; relative price analyses; standard calculations; technical change; structural changes; energy quality factors; consumers surplus; Social and economic history; forest management; CO2 intensity; Ekonomisk och social historia;

    Abstract : Large transformations of technologies have occurred in the Swedish economy during the last two centuries, resulting in higher income, better quality of products and changing composition of GDP. An agrarian society has given way to an industrial society and lately to a post-industrial phase. READ MORE

  4. 4. Towards sustainable heavy-duty transportation : Combustion and emissions using renewable fuels in a compression ignition engine

    Author : Maja Novakovic; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; RME; HVO; E85; methanol; ethanol; decarbonization; defossilization; heavy-duty; compression-ignition engine; ow temperature combustion; PPC; emissions; PM; particles; aerosol; OA; SOA; DOC;

    Abstract : Transportation should become sustainable and available to everyone. Currently, transportation accounts for approx. one sixth of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions globally, and heavy-duty trucks are responsible for almost 30% of that. READ MORE

  5. 5. Energy Export Opportunities from Kraft Pulp and Paper Mills and Resulting Reductions in Global CO2 Emissions

    Author : Erik Marcus Kristian Axelsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy export; Heat integration; Energy savings; Kraft pulp and paper mill; Global CO2 emissions;

    Abstract : With increasing energy prices and increasing demand for CO2-lean energy sources, energy savings in the pulp and paper industry become ever more relevant. Significant energy savings in kraft mills can be made by e.g. improved heat integration and installation of an energy-efficient evaporation plant. READ MORE
