  1. 1. OPENING THE BOX : Exploring the presumptions about the 'Net Generation'

    Author : Sheila Zimic; Bo Sundgren; Katarina Lindblad-Gidlund; Patrik Hernwall; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Net Generation ; presumptions; deconstruction; digital competence; digital participation; Informatics; computer and systems science; Informatik; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : There are many names or labels which refer to the generation growing up with digital media and these include labels such as ‘Net Generation’ (Tapscott, 1998), ‘digital natives’ (Prensky, 2001), ‘cyberkids’ (Holloway, 2003) and ‘MySpacegeneration’ (Rosen, 2008). The core idea behind these labels is that young people who have grown up surrounded by digital technology are very different to previous generations in their way of using and even thinking about the new digital technology. 2. 2. Mental and physical health among first-generation and second-generation immigrants in Sweden

    Author : Teresa Saraiva Leão; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Migration implies profound psychosocial and socioeconomic changes. Previous studies demonstrate an increased risk of poor health, including mental disorders, among some immigrant groups. READ MORE

  3. 3. Techno-economic evaluation of integrated lignocellulosic ethanol production

    Author : Elisabeth Joelsson; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; distillers dried grain with solubles; biorefinery; modelling; Aspen Plus; biogas; logging residues; spruce; wheat straw; wheat grain; heat; integration; pinch analysis; techno-economic evaluation; first generation; second generation; Ethanol; Lignocellulosic material;

    Abstract : Sweden has claimed that it wants to have a fossil-free vehicle fleet in 2030 as a milestone of its ambitious goal for 2050 to be a country with a sustainable and resource-efficient energy supply without any net GHG emissions. Production of bioethanol from plant materials is one potential method of meeting this goal. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mechanisms of rhythm generation in the lamprey locomotor network

    Author : Lorenzo Cangiano; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Animals propel themselves through space, swimming, walking or flying, by rhythmic oscillatory movements of their body and limbs. In vertebrates these movements are mainly generated by specialized neuronal circuits in the spinal cord, called central pattern generators (CPGs) for locomotion. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development of integrated cellulose- and starch-based ethanol production and process design for improved xylose conversion

    Author : Borbala Erdei; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bioethanol; wheat straw; wheat; first-generation ethanol; second-generation; integrated process; SSF; simultaneous saccharification and co-fermentation; xylose fermentation; S. cerevisiae TMB3400;

    Abstract : Transportation fuels from renewable resources such as ethanol are one of the alternatives to ensure energy security and decrease the net emission of carbon dioxide. First-generation ethanol production from sugar- and starch-based raw materials (1G) is today well established in many countries, and the focus of research has thus shifted to the development and demonstration of the production of second-generation bioethanol from lignocellulose (2G).
