  1. 1. Localisation of Protein Kinase C in Apoptosis and Neurite Outgrowth

    Author : Anna Schultz; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; onkologi; cancer; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; Prostate Cancer; Neuroblastoma; Ceramide; Golgi Apparatus; Neurite outgrowth; Apoptosis; Protein Kinase C; C1 domain;

    Abstract : Protein kinase C (PKC) is a family of serine/threonine kinases, which are subgrouped into classical (a, bI, bII, g), novel (d, e, h, q) and atypical (z, i/l) isoforms. One major aim of this thesis work was to investigate if altered levels of PKC isoforms influence the apoptotic responses of malignant cell-lines. READ MORE

  2. 2. The role of PKC in neuronal differentiation and in regulation of the actin cytoskeleton during neurite outgrowth

    Author : Ulrika Trollér; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik; Rho-family; actin cytoskeleton; neurite; differentiation; PKC; regulatory domain; Genetics;

    Abstract : Protein kinase C (PKC) is a family of serine/threonine kinases subgrouped into classical (α, βI, βII, γ), novel (δ, ε, η, θ) and atypical (ζ, ι/λ) isoforms. PKC can be activated by phorbol esters, and prolonged treatment of neuroblastoma cells has been shown to induce neuronal differentiation with neurite outgrowth and increased expression of neuronal genes. 3. 3. The molecular features in PKC epsilon determining its neurite-inducing capacity

    Author : Mia Ling; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; Cytology; neuroblastoma; neurite outgrowth; C1 domain; cancerology; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; protein kinase C;

    Abstract : Protein kinase C (PKC) is a family of serine/threonine kinases which are subgrouped into classical (a, bI, bII, g), novel (d, e, h, q) and atypical (z, i/l) isoforms. It has been shown that PKCe induces neurite outgrowth in neuroblastoma cells and the effect is mediated via the regulatory domain. READ MORE

  4. 4. Protein kinase C epsilon and neurite outgrowth

    Author : Ruth Zeidman; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Abstract : Protein kinase C (PKC) is a serine/threonine kinase family with 10 identified isoforms. The contribution of PKC isoforms to cell growth and differentiation, with focus on neurite outgrowth, was investigated, using neuroblastoma and immortalised neural cells as model systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Molecular mechanisms underlying morphological effects of protein kinase C under normal conditions and cellular stress

    Author : Lovisa Sunesson; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuroblastoma; amytrophic lateral sclerosis; PABPC1; IGF2BP3; G3BP2; peripherin; C1 domain; protein-protein-interactions; Protein kinase C; neurite outgrowth;

    Abstract : The protein kinase C (PKC) family of serine/threonine kinases consists of 10-15 members. The PKC isoforms have central roles in many essential cellular processes, including proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation, cytoskeletal changes, and migration. READ MORE
