    Abstract : Aciclovir (ACV) and its prodrug valacyclovir (VACV) are used to treat infections caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV) and varicella zoster virus (VZV), and as prophylaxis against cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections in immunocompromised patients.
