  1. 21. Striatal pathways in dyskinesia and dystonia

    Author : Laura Andreoli; Basala gangliernas patofysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Striatum; Dystonia; L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia; DREADD; Mouse model; Dopamine; dopamine receptor;

    Abstract : Purposeful and well-coordinated movements depend on the control exerted by dopamine (DA) on the basal ganglia (BG) network. Accordingly, dysfunctions or lesions of the dopaminergic system in the BG can result in an overall poverty and slowness of movement, cardinal features of Parkinson´s disease (PD), or in dyskinesias, exaggerated and involuntary movements resulting from L-DOPA pharmacotherapy. 2. 22. Language ability in patients with low-grade glioma - detecting signs of subtle dysfunction

    Author : Malin Antonsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Low-grade glioma; language ability; high-level language; tumour surgery; brain tumour; writing; keystroke logging;

    Abstract : Background: Low-grade glioma (LGG) is a slow-growing brain tumour often situated in or near areas involved in language and/or cognitive functions. Consequently, there is a risk that patients develop language impairments due to tumour growth or surgical resection. READ MORE

  3. 23. Motion and Emotion : Functional In Vivo Analyses of the Mouse Basal Ganglia

    Author : Emma Arvidsson; Åsa Wallén-Mackenzie; Cecilia Flores; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dopamine; Basal Ganglia; Reward System; In Vivo Chronoamperometry; Optogenetics; Deep Brain Stimulation; Parkinson’s Disease; Addiction; Glutamate; Vesicular Glutamate Transporter; VGLUT2; Sex; Age; Subthalamic Nucleus; Striatum; Nucleus Accumbens; Ventral Tegmental Area;

    Abstract : A major challenge in the field of neuroscience is to link behavior with specific neuronal circuitries and cellular events. One way of facing this challenge is to identify unique cellular markers and thus have the ability to, through various mouse genetics tools, mimic, manipulate and control various aspects of neuronal activity to decipher their correlation to behavior. 4. 24. The fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster GSTE6 and E7; characterization, immobilization and transgenic overexpression

    Author : Muhammad Aslam; Bengt Mannervik; Ralf Morgenstern; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glutathione transferases; drosophila melanogaster; isothiocyanates; toxicity; immobilization; kinetics; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : Glutathione transferases (GSTs) are multifunctional enzymes that are universally distributed in most eukaryotes and prokaryotes. They play a pivotal role in the metabolism and detoxication of numerous endogenous and exogenous electrophiles by conjugating them with ubiquitous tripeptide glutathione. READ MORE

  5. 25. Traffic Light System-BasicADL (TLS-BasicADL) Development, reliability, validity, clinical utility and patient perspective

    Author : Gillian Asplin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Outcome measures; Physiotherapy; ADL; reliability; validity; hip fracture; patient participation; functional balance; physical performance; patient experience; qualitative content analysis;

    Abstract : Aim: To describe the development of Traffic Light System-BasicADL (TLS-BasicADL), and procedures to establish properties of reliability, validity, clinical utility and patient perspective. TLS-BasicADL measures the patient’s ability to perform basic activities of daily living. READ MORE
