21. Phenomenology of Inert Scalar and Supersymmetric Dark Matter
Abstract : While the dark matter has so far only revealed itself through the gravitational influence it exerts on its surroundings, there are good reasons to believe it is made up by WIMPs – a hypothetical class of heavy elementary particles not encompassed by the Standard Model of particle physics. The Inert Doublet Model constitutes a simple extension of the Standard Model Higgs sector. READ MORE

22. Search for Direct Top Squark Pair Production with the ATLAS Experiment and Studies of the Primary Vertex Reconstruction Performance
Abstract : The ATLAS detector is one of the two largest experiments installed at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. During the first run, the ATLAS detector recorded data at centre of mass energies of 7 TeV and 8 TeV, enabling many precision measurements and new physics searches. READ MORE

23. Top-Quark and Charged Higgs Boson Production at Hadron Colliders : Data Analysis at the DØ Experiment and Simulations for the ATLAS Detector
Abstract : This thesis treats two different projects, both aiming at experimental tests at hadron colliders of some specific predictions of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics and of its Minimal Supersymmetric extension (MSSM). The thesis is based on four papers. READ MORE

24. Neutrino Oscillations and Charged Higgs Bosons – Experimental Projects for Physics beyond the Standard Model
Abstract : This thesis is based on work done in two different experimental projects. The first project, the Tau RICH, is a previously proposed τ-neutrino appearance experiment for the CERN neutrino beam at the Gran Sasso laboratory in Italy. The proposed experimental concept is based on the use of focusing RICH detectors with liquid radiator (C6F14). READ MORE

25. Studies of Long-Lived Supersymmetric Top Quarks and Online Monitoring of the ATLAS First Level Calorimeter Trigger
Abstract : The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has recently started colliding protons at 7 TeV centre-of mass energy. Extensive searches for hitherto unobserved particles and physics processes will be made as part of an ambitious scientific programme which aims to answer some of the fundamental questions in modern physics.
