  1. 1. Fast neutron dosimetry : a study of basic dosimetric properties of fast-neutrons for external beam radiotherapy and problems associated with corrections of measured charged particle cross-sections

    Author : Jonas Söderberg; Lennart Lindborg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Basic dosimetric properties of fast-neutron beams with energies ≤80 MeV were explored using Monte Carlo techniques. Elementary pencil-beam dose distributions taking into account transport of all relevant types of released charged particles (protons, deuterons, tritons, 3He and a particles) were calculated and used to derive several absorbed dose distributions. Abstract : The dosimetric properties of fast-neutron beams with energies ≤80 MeV were explored using Monte Carlo techniques. 3. 3. Mixed Beam Dosimetry - From Reactor Core to BNCT Patient

    Author : Per Munck af Rosenschöld; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; BNCT; dosimetry; radiotherapy; mixed beam; quality assurance; in vivo dosimetry; Monte Carlo; ionization chamber; foil activation; MCNP; beam quality correction factor; photon transmission.; Nukleärmedicin; radiobiology; Nuclear medicine; radiobiologi; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Radiopharmaceutical technology;

    Abstract : Accurate radiation dosimetry is of paramount importance in order to ensure safe delivery of radiotherapy, and for the possibility of meaningful evaluation of clinical trials, as the radiation absorbed dose is correlated to tissue response. The aim of the studies described in this thesis was to investigate and devise novel approaches to mixed beam dosimetry in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). READ MORE

  4. 4. Determination of absorbed dose in fields of fast neutrons

    Author : Anders Montelius; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neutron dosimetry; finite volumes; interface effects; marrow dose; chord length distributions;

    Abstract : Analytical models have been developed to solve energy deposition problems in finite detectors and near interfaces in beams of fast neutrons. Dose expressions have been derived, which are suitable for numerical evaluation. The detectors or volumes of interest have been characterized by distributions of chord length along which the particles travel. READ MORE

  5. 5. Dosimetry Studies of Different Radiotherapy Applications using Monte Carlo Radiation Transport Calculations

    Author : Shirin Abbasinejad Enger; Hans Lundqvist; Anders Ahnesjö; Irena Gudowska; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; External Beam Radiotherapy; Gadolinium Neutron Capture Therapy; Gadolinium Neutron Capture Brachytherapy; Targeted Radionuclide therapy; Detector Response Modelling; Monte Carlo Simulation.; Radiological physics; Radiofysik;

    Abstract : Developing radiation delivery systems for optimisation of absorbed dose to the target without normal tissue toxicity requires advanced calculations for transport of radiation. In this thesis absorbed dose and fluence in different radiotherapy applications were calculated by using Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. READ MORE
