  1. 11. On high temperature oxidation resistance : Towards the materials genome of high temperature alloys

    Author : Samuel Hallström; John Ågren; Roger Reed; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The efficiency of a heat engine increases with increasing service temperature. This leads to a demand for material that can withstand aggressive environments and sometimes also high load at higher and higher temperature. That is the rationale for the work of this thesis. READ MORE

  2. 12. Material Solutions for Mitigating High Temperature Corrosion in Biomass- and Waste-fired Boilers - Utilizing Novel FeCrAl Alloys and HVAF-sprayed Ni-based Coatings

    Author : Johan Eklund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Waste; HVAF; High temperature corrosion; Biomass; FeCrAl alloys; Ni-based coatings; Silicon;

    Abstract : Combustion of biomass and waste for heat and electricity production is a promising alternative to fossil fuels and is thereby an important step towards a more sustainable future. However, due to substantial amounts of alkali- and chlorine-containing species as well as moisture in biomass and waste, the combustion of these results in a highly corrosive environment which accelerates the degradation of steel components in the boiler, drastically increasing the maintenance costs. 3. 13. High Temperature Corrosion of Superheaters in Biomass - and Waste-Fired Boilers: Combat on two fronts

    Author : Julien Phother Simon; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stainless steel; KCl; Deposits; Waste; Oxidation; Biomass; Ni-based coatings;

    Abstract : Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas contributing to the greenhouse effect and a significant contribution comes from the use of fossil fuels. Utilizing more renewable fuels is therefore a solution to decrease the net release of CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. READ MORE

  4. 14. Photoelectron spectroscopic studies of deposited metal clusters and model catalyst systems

    Author : Staffan Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Metal clusters are small metal aggregates between atomic and metal systems. Their physical and chemical properties have been observed to change with size. Their surface fraction is large which makes them of particular interest for catalysis. Most presently used catalyst systems consist of small metal particles on porous oxide supports. READ MORE

  5. 15. High Temperature Corrosion Behavior in Biomass- and Waste-Fired Boilers - Insights into catastrophic corrosion and corrosion mitigation techniques

    Author : Julien Phother Simon; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
