  1. 1. Thin Film Synthesis of Nickel Containing Compounds

    Author : Erik Lindahl; Jan-Otto Carlsson; Jens Birch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemical Vapor Deposition; CVD; Atomic Layer Deposition; ALD; Nickel nitride; Nickel oxide; Nickel; Epitaxy; multilayer; Thin film; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Most electrical, magnetic or optical devices are today based on several, usually extremely thin layers of different materials.  In this thesis chemical synthesis processes have been developed for growth of less stable and metastable layers, and even multilayers, of nickel containing compounds. 2. 2. Electrochromic Nickel – Tungsten Oxides : Optical, Electrochemical and Structural Characterization of Sputter-deposited Thin Films in the Whole Composition Range

    Author : Sara Green; Gunnar Niklasson; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Esteban Avendaño; Aline Rougier; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrochromism; Nickel oxide; Tungsten oxide; Lithium intercalation; Sputtering; Thin films; Nanostructures; Optical properties; Solid State Physics; Fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the electrochromic NixW1-x oxide thin film system, where 0 < x < 1. The thin films were deposited by reactive DC magnetron co-sputtering from one Ni and one W metal target. In addition, Ni oxide was deposited with water vapor added to the sputtering gas. READ MORE

  3. 3. Screening of oxygen-carrier particles based on iron-, manganese-, copper- and nickel oxides for use in chemical-looping technologies

    Author : Marcus Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oxygen Carrier; Carbon Dioxide Capture; Chemical-Looping Combustion; Chemical-Looping Reforming; Nickel Oxide; Iron Oxide; Copper Oxide; Manganese Oxide;

    Abstract : Capture and storage of carbon dioxide from combustion will likely be used in the future as a method of reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and thus be part of the overall strategy to stabilize the atmospheric levels of CO2. Chemical-looping combustion is a method of combustion where CO2 is inherently separated from the non-condensable components in the flue gas without the need for an energy intensive air separation unit. 4. 4. Oxidation kinetics of nickel particles

    Author : Richard Karmhag; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Oxidation; kinetics; nickel; particles; UFP; solar absorber; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Solid State Physics; fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : Nanoparticles have an immense surface to volume ratio. This is a key factor to the new properties of some materials made up of such particles. The oxide layer formed on all materials will have a large influence on the behaviour of these materials. The layer isadvantageous in some cases but causes problems in other. READ MORE

  5. 5. Selection of oxygen carriers for chemical-looping combustion using methane as a fuel

    Author : Marcus Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Carbon Dioxide Capture; Nickel oxide; CO2 Separation; Oxygen Carrier; Iron oxide; Manganese oxide.; Chemical-Looping Combustion;

    Abstract : In order to meet new demands on clean energy producing technologies, chemical-looping combustion could play an important role. With this technique, CO2 from the flue gases can be separated and collected without excessive energy and efficiency penalty. This is because nitrogen from the combustion air is never mixed with the fuel. READ MORE
